We went with our local homeschool group to Christian Way Farm (which just happens to be owned by a local homeschool family as well) yesterday. It was an absolutely GORGEOUS day there.
They started off with a wonderful storytime where they talked about how the pumpkins grow. ![]() Then it was time to load up for the hayride out to the corn maze. Does anyone else get nervous just thinking about wandering around in those things? I was just so glad that I pretty much just had to follow the kids. They could run and check out every option before I'd get to the turns so I was able to just follow them on the quick route out! And guess where the corn maze ended? The pumpkin patch of course! ![]() We all ended up with the tell-tale mud smudges on our shirts from carrying the pumpkins. ![]() It took forever for Jon to find one because he kept looking for one that "wasn't dirty". You can take the boy out of the city, but not the city out of the boy! He was however VERY impressed with the pretty yellow flowers on the vines. photo by Jon ![]() Back on the trailer with lots of friends... and our pumpkins! ![]() ![]() Then there was time for shelling corn... ![]() Then PLAYING in the corn... ![]() Hanging out at the hay fort. ![]() Leaping from hay bale to bale .... ![]() And just hanging out with friends! ![]() I was determined to get a picture in front of the sunflowers!! ![]() And we even managed to get a picture of MOST of the kids together. It was NO small feat. ![]() I have to say that this is shaping up to be an absolutely wonderful year with our homeschool group. God truly seems to have brought together a special group of families for such a time as this and it just makes a day at the pumpkin patch even more special. What a blessing! |
