Natural Weed Killer

Posted in Organics

VINEGAR - yes, vinegar. Inexpensive, non-toxic vinegar. Just  splash it around whereever you have some weeds. We had some sprigs of grass growing up through our new patio so I splashed some vinegar on there the other day and it pretty well took care of things.

From what I've read, you have to repeat the application more often than if you used Roundup or something, but this way you aren't adding anything toxic to your soil.

I already use vinegar for most of our household cleaning, but now I have a reason to use it outside too!

Oh thank you!!! I use vinegar for pretty much everything and never thought to use it for this. I can't wait to get home in the morning and give it a try!! Awsome tip!

so, do I pour it on the soil around the roots, or spray it on the leaves like round-up?

I am off to Costco tomorrow to buy it in Bulk! LOL!

I literally just took the vinegar jug out there and just poured some directly on the weeds. I gave it a pretty good soaking since my weeds looked pretty healthy & strong (All weeds do though, don't they?).

Thanks for the tip. I am certainly going to try this one - pulling weeds is not my favorite activity...

Melissa(www.melissaomarkham.com) here, just wanted to say thanks for the great idea! I have some weeds that need getting rid of, but I hate using the weed killing stuff. And vinegar is much cheaper too!

That is such a great idea. I use apple cider vinegar for the flies in the horse stalls. It works well.
Glad you enjoyed the Carnival!! It was fun to put up.
Thanks for stopping by!!

I like this idea! My dd just learned from a friend that she can spray the animals with apple cider vinegar & water in a sprayer. It actually works pretty well. Holly

We gave this a shot on our patio versus some humongo weeds and the grass that has shot up through there...worked like a charm! Lovin it, though the smell does make me think of the days as a kid dying Easter eggs. ;-)

Hope all's well and the drought ends soon.

Hello! I just wanted to say that I have used vinegar for weed control and it truly works great! I would just be careful it does not run off into something or a plant you want to keep. (I learned the hard way!) Matter of fact we used it for our sidewalk to keep the weeds from coming up between the curbing and walk.
