Monday, September 1, 2008~ Busy weekend... ~ |
Our "weekend" started off on Friday as hubby had a 4 day. Son always has Monday's off but did have to go to school on Friday. Which was unfortunate as mommy and grandson were in town for only a day and a half on their way back to WA. While hubby was off with a few friends, and son was in school, mommy and grandson and I spent most of the day shopping and running errands, as it was payday (for military anyway).
Saturday morning son was able to have breakfast with mommy and grandson (and family) before they had to hit the road once again. Then son had a football game (he didn't get to play this one but their team won by 4 points ...last year they lost 60-6!!) which we attended and I taped (tried to anyway ). Then we had him ride home with us instead of the bus and we stopped and had fast food for supper, discussed the game and had some family time.
Yesterday hubby and son spent some time together in the garage, then went shooting and I stayed home and finished my cleaning and cooking. We had a wonderful supper last night (smoked/BBQ ribs, potato salad and fruit salad) then watched a movie together (National Treasure 2). Here is a picture of the ribs I did in our new pellet grill/smoker....they turned out wonderful and we had leftovers for lunch today.
This morning we all slept in and then just lazed around the house LOL. Which feels so nice to do every once in a while! Hubby and son just left a bit ago to go shooting again and I'm about to do a few chores and start making the hot dog buns for tonight's supper. I may get a little sewing in this afternoon too, depending on when they guys get back home.
Today is the first day of our monthly menu. Tomorrow I will post the dinners we will be having for the next month (and every month there after LOL unless we decide to change anything). Hopefully this will work out well for us, I think it will as it gives me a little more structure as far as what I may need to make (ie rolls, buns etc.) for each week and won't have to look at the menu and freak out cause I needed to make something to go with a meal and forgot . This will also help me with my grocery budget as I'll be buying pretty much the same things every month.
You may have noticed that I put up a weight loss ticker on the left. Time to get back to business (as my health permits...I do have a doctor appointment tomorrow, so we'll see how things go from there). I was going to put a turtle up there, you know...slow and steady (or like my papa likes to say.."off like a terd herd of hurtles turtles" hehe)...but I was being vain and it didn't match my blog...so I went with the butterfly again . LOL I will be updating it (and posting) as I get myself in gear again.
Well, I guess I'd better go so I don't waste the afternoon away! Have a wonderful day and I'll "see" you tomorrow!
God Bless,
Tricia

Thursday, August 28, 2008~ Monthly menu and recipe binder ~ |
First of all, I would like to thank all of you who have left messages about my needing prayers. I am very grateful for the support!
Okay, now for my actual post LOL. I've been seeing quite a few gals on here talking about monthly menu's instead of weekly or biweekly. I myself have been making my menu and grocery list according to how many days fall in each pay period. Well, I've decided to try the monthly approach for September.
At first I thought, hmmm this is going to be really hard to come up with 30 days worth of meals, but actually it was really easy! So I thought, okay I can do this. But then I realized that I had a lot more work to do than just coming up with the meals! So I headed out to the garage and took inventory of the chest freezer (not much in there, but more than we've had in a while), then I checked the freezer in the house. After that was done, I sat down and first went through what meat was needed for each meal then marked off what I already had and wrote down what I still needed to buy. Then I wrote down what other ingrediants were needed for each meal that weren't things I normally keep stocked up on. Finally I wrote out my grocery list! WHEW!!! It was pretty involved, but it's done and other than maybe adding or subtracting a meal here and there it's finished for hopefully quite a while.
Now this is only for dinners. Son has the same thing every morning for breakfast (only protein...he gets sick if he eats anything else) and takes the same things for lunch everyday. Hubby takes his breakfast and lunch (same thing everyday except when I sneak leftovers in there LOL which hopefully I'll be doing more of in September). As for me, I either eat leftovers or whatever I have on hand. I was doing a menu for myself everyday for a while, and actually should start that up again so that I can at least control my calorie intake since I'm not able to workout right now .
Anyway, I decided to make up a binder for my menu and for all of the recipes that I will be using every month. Son had an extra set of dividers so he kindly let me used them . So I put together this........
I had 8 dividers to use, so the categories are as follows...Meats/Main Dishes, Jams/Jellies and Fruits,
Breads, Soups/Sides, Desserts, Seasonings, Laundry/Hygiene (that will be another post ) and last but not least the Master Menu. Obviously there is more in there than just the dinners. I wanted to make it for the recipes that I use on a daily/weekly basis so that I'm not scrounging around or losing my recipes . Right now most of the recipes are printed up, but some are hand written so eventually I'd like to make them all the same.
So off we go on another adventure LOL Hopefully this will work out well, although I'm sure there will have to be some tweaking now and again! Well I'd best get off of here, I need to get some sleep.....mommy and grandson will be in about midnight or so and then the next few days will be busy.....shopping and errands tomorrow (with mommy and grandson) while son is in school, then football practice for son while mommy watches and grama here keeps baby, then Saturday is the first game of the season and a BBQ back at home for supper and then mommy and grandson have to leave that evening . I hope every one has a great weekend.....see you next week!
God Bless,
Tricia

Thursday, August 28, 2008~ This was in my email today ~ |
so I thought I'd pass it along....
The newest virus circulating is the "UPS Delivery Failure". You will
receive an email from UPS Packet Service along with a packet number. NOTE: The
word packet is misspelled on this line. It will say that they were un-able to
deliver a package sent to you on such and such a date. It then asks you to
print out the invoice copy attached. DON'T TRY TO PRINT THIS. IT LAUNCHES THE
VIRUS! Pass this warning on to all your PC operators at work and home. This
virus has caused millions of dollars in damage in the past few days.
Hope your day is going well,
Tricia |

Wednesday, August 27, 2008~ Prayer request....x2 ~ |
Good morning, as you may have noticed, I haven't posted anything in a few days. I've been dealing with a few things the last few months and they have come to a head and are really wearing me down. So I'm asking, if you feel led, to pray for my family and I. I'll not get too specific, but will ask that prayers be directed towards my health issues, not only for my pain and healing, but for my husband and I to make the right choices when decisions are to be made.
Also please pray for my grandson, that the outcome of the situation surrounding him will be the Lord's will, and that all who are making the final decisions are filled with the Spirit. All I will say here is that it involves lawyers, judges and man's laws. A very scary combination .
The Lord had been giving me direction in these matters, but as I grow closer to Him, I am also having to fight harder to stave off Satan's attacks and I am growing weary and am in need of uplifting.
Thank you and may you have a wonderful, Blessed day.

Make a Right onto "Believeth Blvd."
Keep straight and go through the Green Light, which is Jesus Christ.
From there, you must turn onto the "Bridge of Faith," which is over troubled water.
When you get off the bridge, make a Right turn and Keep Straight. You are on the "King's Highway" - Heaven-bound.
Keep going for three miles: One for the Father, One for the Son, and One for the Holy Ghost. Then exit off onto "Grace Blvd."
From there, make a Right turn on "Gospel Lane."
Keep Straight and then make another Right on "Prayer Road."
As you go on your way, Yield Not to the traffic on "Temptation Ave." Also, avoid SIN STREET because it is a DEAD END. Pass up "Envy Drive, " and "Hate Avenue."
Also, pass "Hypocrisy Street," "Gossiping Lane," and Backbiting Blvd."
However, you have to go down "Long-suffering Lane," "Persecution Blvd.," and "Trials and Tribulations Ave."
But that's all right, because VICTORY Street is straight ahead! AMEN!!!!!
Send these directions to your friends so they will not get lost.
