Light in a Buddhist Temple

I read stories of Jesus,..from all over the world here is one that tickled me the other day....I pray it 'd do the same for you..

This is one from another YWAMer...

A Monk Sees the Light in a Buddhist Temple
I asked that sincere monk in front of me among all of his peers, "Do you want to live for Jesus?"
By Jane Allison

"How do I become a missionary like you, Jane?" I stood in the shadows of idols in a Buddhist temple, awed by God's clever maneuvering. I bit my lip, laughing at the question the young person in the blazing orange toga had just asked me. I turned slightly to find sincere eyes meeting mine. I responded, "It helps to become a Christian and be introduced to Jesus first, Air." "How do I do that?" he asked as other young monks began to surround us.

I had asked Air many questions about his faith in Buddha. Some of them stumped him and made it clear to me that the spiritual veil he was wearing was heavy. The funny thing was that every time I asked him questions about his faith, he hit back with several questions about Christianity! "Who is Jesus? What do you mean, He died for me?"

I was on my way out of the temple when the Holy Spirit clued me into what He had been working on through me all afternoon as Air toured us through the temple. "Give him the invitation, Jane!" came the Spirit's call after Air asked how he could become a missionary like me. "But Lord!" I replied, "Come on, can't You see that I am standing in a temple, and he is a monk?" "Give him the invitation, Jane!" came that inner voice a bit stronger. I asked that sincere monk in front of me among all of his peers, "Do you want to live for Jesus?"

"Yes!"

I asked a needless three more times to be sure that I had heard right.

Leading him outside, away from all of the altars and statues, I gave Air a simple sinner's prayer. He asked me if I could say it for him and I explained that it was something he needed to do on his own. I began to give a mere example and could hear that he was repeating everything that I was saying! I saw how God was moving and took it as the greatest honor to escort Air through the gates of Heaven at my side just as he had walked me through that Buddhist temple only hours earlier. We said "Amen" together and a cool breeze blew over us.

Feast together at his table...as well as learn and share lives' experiences and gain wisdom through grace.  (side note...Feasting is...yes feasting.food, fellowship..the family is there!..another note....that peice of bread and "grape juice" is NOt a feast. its a reminder not a dinner.....yes..anyway...you know what I mean)

Georgian families touched by the love of God

Georgian families touched by the love of God
YWAM Georgia reaches out to refugees, one family at a time
By Robert Itzin
One Georgian family that lost everything during the recent war

YWAM Georgia staff workers are reaching out to refugees from the Georgia-Russia war in their own backyard of Tbilisi, but the lesson they’re learning is to be led by God and not duplicate the efforts of the humanitarian organizations around them. The Georgian government, aid organizations and the Georgian people “are going all out” to meet the physical needs of the 44,000 registered refugees of the conflict, according to Dennis Holt, YWAM Georgia director. As a result, the six full-time YWAM workers and their handful of volunteers decided to focus their efforts on particular families in Tbilisi while they wait for Russian troops to evacuate bombed villages along the South Ossetian border.

“It is a bit overwhelming for our six staff and few volunteers to imagine making a difference,” Holt said. But that is exactly what they’re doing.

On Wednesday, the team went to a Tbilisi kindergarten filled with refugees to do a program for the children. Expecting a room full of children, the team instead found one single family and relatives of that family. Armed with coloring books, some of the staff began entertaining the few children present, while Holt sat with the father and listened to his story. The Georgian man lost everything he owned in South Ossetia—two houses, a car, and all their possessions— when militant anti-Georgian groups forced Georgians to leave the region. Holt said the family fled for their lives with only the clothes they were wearing.

“I just put my arm on his shoulder and listened and let him know that I cared,” said Holt. “One of the biggest needs here is not clothes or food or money, but compassion.”

For every family like the Georgian family just described, there are many more. More than 20,000 Georgian refugees have not yet registered with the government, not counting the thousands of South Ossetians who fled north to Russia during the conflict. YWAM Georgia staff hope to continue sharing the love of Jesus Christ with more displaced families in Tbilisi, while making plans to assist refugees as they return to bombed out villages once Russian troops fully retreat. Maia, a recent YWAM Discipleship Training School student in Tbilisi, will also return to her village with no certainty that her family home still stands.

Some days you feel like a nut...

What have we been up to ?

ummm....lots actually moving our "clan" so much over the past two years has really been an adventure..as well as a true challenge.

I was twelve when I gave  my all for Jesus and missions..i' had no idea of what the "meaning" and the commitment that it was and is. But here we are today..living by faith and from glory to glory for Jesus.

This past week was our first "official" school week !! It when very well....and then some.! So very excited to learn along side my children. So much as to how God had created us to be as parents. To teach and pass on ouur knowlegd and for us to  keep on learning...it keeps me young and active and that is what will make it great in  the comming months and years!

We are going to be getting a year family pass  to "Old Sturbridge Village" here in Sturbridge, Mass.  Its a living museum of colonial life...if you 're in the area....check it out!  www.osv.org  We are excited to be a part of that....and membership is only $80 for a year of learning and history adventures....not to mention the holidays! Oh wow ...can't wait...this is so exciting  oh yes...the kids love these type of places too...it's all hands on!

In the next week or so we will be registering vehicle and changing licensure over to Mass..(..oh to be a mass driver ....it's dreadfull to think of...but the Lord is with me.... (smile) too many of the drivers here know very little about ...you know...sharing the road ...and something about being curtious...it's dangerous not to be. Some time s I do miss the Openness about east texas roads....and the more...somewhat apparent ...cautious drivers...I mean Texas has road fools too (smile) I )               You know I do mean to be a "stick in the mud" "'bout this, but (smile) the best way to live out your faith in Christ is to GO the speed LIMIT!....(smile)     it's an honour to the Lord to follow the laws of the land.....and its safer  too.....and saves on insurance ....and speeding tickets and bad driving records and the list goes on.....i think I 've made my point...obey the laws of the land (and road) and be blessed as well as a blessing.

Live to be 100.....

Okay so gett his straight....! I take very heeded caution about the latest "science" "news" (and these " " are for a reason....most of wha you hear and about 72.567% of all statistics are made up on the spot....(LOL))

Any way I 'd read this on a freinds' blogg and thought it oddly enough very hisorically true! (READ YOUR HISTORY!!!!)

Don't take it or do take this away and "ponder" or forget it all to gether....it s yours.....

Having Lots of Kids Helps Dads Live to 100! ...........Study finds farmers are also more likely reach that milestone......

(HealthDay News) -- A young, trim farmer with four or more children: According to a new study, that's the ideal profile for American men hoping to reach 100 years of age. The research, based largely on data from World War I draft cards, suggests that keeping off excess weight in youth, farming and fathering a large number of offspring all help men live past a century.

One finding in particular was unexpected, the researchers said.

"We were surprised that having more than three children is beneficial to longevity -- based on previous studies by other authors, and common sense, quite the opposite could be expected," said study co-author Leonid Gavrilov, who conducted the study with his wife, Natalia Gavrilova, both of the University of Chicago's Center on Aging. Gavrilov, a leader in longevity research, was to present the findings at the Gerontological Society of America annual meeting, in San Francisco.

The husband-and-wife team have long mined vital statistics and other data, looking for clues to why some people live into extreme old age.

Just last year, they reported one new finding: Babies born to women under 25 years of age were twice as likely to live to 100 years of age compared to infants born to moms aged 25 or older.

The new research in men was spurred by the fact that a treasure trove of information about 20th-century American males has now been put online: World War I Draft Registration Cards. From 1917 to 1918, almost all adult males aged 46 or under were required by law to fill out these cards, which asked them to detail a number of physical and social attributes.

In their study, Gavrilov and Gavrilova first used Social Security data to locate 240 men born in 1887 who lived to be at least 100. In 171 of those cases, the men's physical and social attributes at age 30 were recorded on their WW I draft cards -- giving the researchers a snapshot of their lives at the time.

The Chicago team then compared that data against draft card information for a randomly selected group of American men who were also born in 1887 but who did not reach 100. Some surprising findings emerged. First of all, a man's chances of reaching 100 rose along with the number of children he had produced by age 30.

Compared to childless men of the same age, a 30-year-old man in 1917 who had one to three children had a 61 percent increased chance of living past a century, the data showed. However, a man's chances for extreme longevity almost tripled if he had fathered four or more children by age 30, the study found.

That's at odds with a prevailing theory in longevity research that holds that "there is a trade-off between the number of children and [parental] longevity," noted Arnold Mitnitski, a longevity researcher and associate professor of medicine, mathematics and statistics at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada.

He described the study as "very well-done, very clean."

Theoretically, a household full of young kids should deplete a family's resources and undermine the longevity of parents, Mitnitski said. And yet, young dads with many children lived much longer than other men in this sample.

"This may be due to the support by the children when the person becomes older," Gavrilov speculated. Alternatively, siring many children "could be an indicator of good general health and attractiveness on the marriage market, leading to earlier marriage and hence to more kids by age 30," he said.

In other words, the same robust health that boosted a man's marriage prospects and fertility might also promote long life, Gavrilov reasoned.

Another finding, replicated in prior studies, was that being a farmer (as listed on the Draft Card) more than doubled a man's dds of living into the triple digits.

"The most popular hypothesis [there] is that people in the past had poor sanitation in towns, and hence a high infection load early in life," Gavrilov said. Farms were more isolated, and so farmers were less likely to contract life-limiting illnesses, he reasoned.

Not unexpectedly, overweight -- what the researchers described as a "stout" physique -- reduced a man's likelihood for very long life. In fact, slender or medium-built men were twice as likely to reach the century mark compared to stout types.

But, "surprisingly, there is not much difference between the slender and the medium body build, in terms of survival chance to 100," Gavrilov said. That runs counter to the results of animal studies that have suggested that low-calorie diets, and resultant skinniness, boosts longevity.

Other characteristics -- including marital and immigration status at 30 -- had little or no impact on longevity.

Finally, taller men were only marginally more likely to live to 100 than their shorter peers, the team found. Experts have long linked shorter adult height to the types of childhood infections that might shorten lifespan, so this finding is also a bit of a puzzle, Gavrilov said.

"We need to make a larger study and take a closer look at the links between adult height, childhood infection and longevity," he said.

He stressed that findings for women would no doubt be different, for a variety of reasons. "We need to find [similar] data for women to get the answer," Gavrilov said.

YWAM in Worcester, MA???

I'd mentioned a few...ago....that the Lord is and has been in many many ways lead us to begin full-time ministry here in the city of Worcester....

soooo you ask.?? Why onearth did you move to Texas for?? to Move right back where you started??

hahaha....that 's the Father's sence of relative, relativity through our relationship with Him...Jesus (smile)

it all fits together in the big picture of things.....there were and are and will be things.... that 'hve been gained in being present at YWAM_TYLER... that we'd've not gotten else where.

Relationships to ministry opportunity and being exposed to concepts we'd may not have thought of else where.....like for intance...the blessed relational ministry via Living Alternatives' "Building Blocks" house and program in Tyler, TX......we actually have to possibilty of the similar here in Worc....take a peak....(smile)

This "foreclosed" home is in a  residential area of the city that is very close to a housing "Project" type of neighborhood that we...over the next months will be ministering in along side "WalkingInLIght" mission. and this house would be opportuned for a "Building Blocks" type mission.. (for more info on BuildingBlocks check out here www.livalt.org)

Also, keep in prayer....we've made very sudden contact with a local youth pastor here in Worcester and the church he's Y-pastor with ....has a facility that might YWAM-as in.....soon and coming in Worcester (smile)...may be able to use, rent , buy something....it's a former AOG school! (Full with GYM, cafeteria, rooms, class rooms, chaple etc....and the benfit of being close to the Interstate and the "projects" in the North end of the city.....you never know.....may the Lords will be done....

Another blessing and prayer note...I will be starting to go into what is locally called the GreatBrook Valley of worc.....it's the largest "housing -project" community in New England.....any way I'll be helping out the Youth Pastor ( he does have a name..(smile).Pastor Jon S. ) with the Sunday youth group he' gathered at the "boys and Girls" club there. And also've been asked to pray about being part of the after school bible club at my old high school....how wierd is this?

This week we are meeting with the outreach pastor from the New England Dream Center her in Worc... to see what the Lord may lead...show us or other wise????

Quiet Moments

"Above all else we desire to know you, Jesus...guide our steps and draw us near."

Hi all,

Things have been happening quickly 'round here with the move and all...I know it's a good thing to keep some of you, our BIGGEST prayer support out there informed to prayer needs, the blessings of those prayers....whether the Lord has shut or opened "doors" here and there it's important to us to keep you up to par....(smiles)

We've been here in Worcester for just over two weeks now and the Lord has paved some new and awesome roads with opportunities. (smiles)

I (josh) have been able to secure a good and fun P/T and very flexible  job! It 's working with a good friend and mentore from whom I'd worked with in my teen years!....(seems sooo long ago LOL)  Mike Cave...his business is restoring old church buildings and religeous structures! It's awsome work and ministry to the heart of some folks' obsession to the "items" of god.

Any way....Mell and I are pleased to have been asked to come back to help staff the day camp in Uxbridge Ma.. With Walking In light Mission out of Worcester.

It is the week of July 27th through the 31st.....pray with us that the light of Jesus' love and grace be all over the place as these children are loved throughout the week and learn and are discipled in the ways of Christ....

Another praise report...(DOORS ARE OPENING....how exciting!)

We will be joining to crew at YWAM-Boston this fall and taking part in the School Of Evangelism...it's a bit "un-orthadox" compared to YWAM U of N standards but it's right up our "alley" with local outreach and local churches' direct involvment...with out the locals it s not possible..  ( www.ywamboston.org ) YWAM-Boston's "base" is actually located in Newton, MA about a 40 min drive from worcester or 1 hour by train.

At the very persistent and blessed recomendations....we finally had the chance to visit a church this morning in the heart of Down Town worcester.

It's a recent mission, The Dream Center,..( http://74.54.211.86/dream/ ).and part of Liberty Assembly ( www.libertychurches.org ) of Shrewsbury MA and the Lord is moving and abundantly....from really fired up youth programs and outreaches to Celebrate Discovery to a newly esstablished Private Christian Foster Agency!!! Performing Arts ministry and school ...Right Up our Alley.....We are meeting with the Outreach Pastor at the worcester campus some time in the next couple of weeks..and the "funny" thing is....he 's my former youth pastor (ha ..LOL.. God does have a reason for some relationships ..aye!..I mean this is a good relationship..) He (pastor Bob Stone) is very excited that we with YWAM-Boston are interested in investing here in Worc. ....pray that we can connect with the heart plan of our Heavenly Father as alll this comes "new".

.....we've shared some of what the LivingAlternatives' Building-Blocks through YWAM and the program  "Keeps" as well, and there is considerable interest ...good possibilities (that Liberty and others have been praying for) (www.livalt.org

Continued prays for our housing "crutch," It seems though that the Lord is leading us to blend our family with my (josh) folks;' I think it'll help us all out with finances and besides...we do desire to settle down ...with all the forclosures around here...it's very possible to buy cheap! ....you never know.... Right now  the plan is to expand the limited space! I am finishing off the basement with another bath and three bedrooms ! I expect to have it finished by September,

We expect to be in the Greenland/ Portsmouth New Hampshire area in August...yet a place to stay is the "key" we have many many supporters in that area that we desire to see...so yeah.....we will be up to see what's "brewing" at the BethanyCafe ( www.Bethanychurch.com ).......(smile)

Some days you feel like a nut...

To day we celebrate my father's 50 th birthday! (wow that makes me fell old (lol) smiles)

We have planned for lots of old (and new) frinds to come over throughout the afternoon.

This house with nine people, a dog, and three cats is almost never quiet....you get used to it...some days you feel like a nut other days you feel not so much (smile)

The basement project is going smoother than anticipated...and I 'm happy...we will gain three more bedrooms and a half bath (at least) and for very little cost mind you....I can do all the work my self....with extra hands I am always thankful and glad to have...I do admit I have fun doing this sorta stuff....it's my "alone" time with thought and Lord.

We 've been to many diferent discount places and taken down prices for what 'll need to be purchased. Last night at Lowes we'd looked into a product  made for basement floors ...its "waffer-board" with a plastic under side that keep its seperated from the concreat..sorta like a floating "Sub-Floor":floor! i think its cool and its just $1.50 a square ft! So exciting...

In just a week we are going to be working with "Walking In Light" mission's summer camp. ( www.walkinginlight.net )We  were part of the leadership team last year and it was a blast! We pray that all is even better this year! I 'm not sure how many students are coming this year.....the camp is part of W I Light's school year program....the student's through out the year go and attend bible classes and earn points that add up to an amount that lets them get scholarship to go to camp....all these kids come from the inner city project s in Worcester, MA. They come out to the camp, as it it just a day-camp, they instead of returning home, are "adopted" for the week by thier sponsor family...they do and go where the adoptive family does for that week ..its' a real intimate ministry time  to bless the kids......awesome blessings for the host family too!

All is good and set for this fall to be with Youth With A Mission out of Boston,...I'll have to  give you details later.....( www.ywamboston.org ) just thought I'd take a break from the "heat" and write a little.  Later.

Go with Jesus and make it a good day!

the prcesses of Re-nesting..

Okay, we've been here for two weeks now and there has been lots done and even more things to do!

The kids have "adapted" quite well to the "new" surroundings...and the weather is more to our liking (smiles)

With a house of nine...there is very little "quiet" time....smile...we're making it work...

There are plans and I  have already started to "finish off the basement here in my parents house..there is enough room for two more bedrooms...and a half bath..and a "storage room..(for the furnace..etc..I'am excited...some may "protest" a bit...but I have made it clear that it's good for the "long-run" for many uses after we're gone. More useable space is always welcome....

Getting ourselves back into a scedual...so called...is always a tast after even just a week of "whatever" and finally we've got something down....this morning was good...we go the kids settled enough for writting here is Dallas practicing his "B" 's...

Some times I like standing still

After four days of driving ....after four days of McD's for breakfast, lunch, and supper.....after seeing the Gas tank filled with gold. .....after six months we are back home....its nice to be home...home really is where the heart is and we are greatfull for the Love and warmth that our Lord provides each day...

Some things just don't change....some things seem as thoough they just sit in a "time" pause. That is how it is for us...it's as though we'd never left...we came home....

had to travel all the way to the East of Texas for the Lord to work in our lives so ...that He'd get the appreciation and glory. The friends that became as family...thier faces and presence in our day to day will be dearly missed...it's "bitter-sweet" I think....the same was when we'd left NE...we left friends and family for Greater-Purposes....Jesus gets the credit for His provisions and faithfullness..HE never left us nor abandoned us we are always cared for...

'Till we "work" out the details of our home coming we 'll be here in the city with my folks....

I must be open and honest...this is not an easy thing to adjust to...you must see into our heart of hearts to begin to realize the impact the past couple of weeks and the decicions that were prayed about and made....this is clearly the Lords work in action....May I expand???

Thankyou...

Whan Melly and I 'd wed, the word God spoke to us was....."re-think to the begining" It seems to be that with every step we make forward...the Lord directs us backward.....but we are moving forward still.....and it seems to some foks (and to us on occation) that we are standing still.....but we're not. OUr heart as a couple is being refined by the continuance of being brought back...back to our beginings...our first love....the Love to serve and live as Jesus did, does and will continue to. Faithfull.

We'd met because of the heart God gave us to serve....we met here in NE and we'd met because the heart of our passsions are here......

The fact of the matter is we'd learned from our experience of the past six months is to LET GO!!! Let go, that is, of every thing not worthy of Jesus....things of this "world" ...even to the point of leaving friends, family, house and home, money, ..whatever.....it is all pitence in comparison to what comes with a full on faith on Jesus, with Jesus and remembering that HE is the one WE are to follow, not the other way 'round. He promised to provide and we'v seen that....why worry...nothing good comes from it....

So many...too many...even I sometimes forget.... that it is GOD, in the first place, that created the sun that makes it possible for the seed to grow...oh don't foget He'd made that seed....and the planet.too oh yeah and the.soil ...water....even God thought of it to create the DEAD decayed matter that makes the soil fertile...gosh.yes God created something to die to give life to something  ..I guess He'd thought of everything!.....but still some cannot fathom that with out Him to speak inot that  seed to grow, it will not grow.   It is through His spoken word that all has existence and life.(Gen chpters 1 2 3 )......

Sometimes I just like to stand still and not be "busy',".... for it is futile over all....take the time the Lord has granted us, to admire and stand still...in awe of His immence imagination... God is in Control whether you  or I like it or not...He loves each of us and everything He has created everything and you are His

greatest treasure.

Go with God and Have a great day!
