Thistle Cove Farm

Typical Feb day

We're back on the farm after having taken a quick trip to central VA. Dave had a business meeting so while he worked I visited family and friends. I visited the antique show and had a great time seeing how much of my belongings are now antiques and not collectibles. Every year more and more of what I use on a daily basis is being sold for lots of money. I probably should re-think using antiques but heck, I'd rather break them using them than break them dusting them.

This morning, using the tractor, I sat out a round bale of hay for the mares. On the way in last night, I noticed they were down to the last bites and would be out by this morning. Sure enough, everyone was hanging out at the barn, waiting for me to tend to their needs. It was uneventful with no escapes nor injuries, thank God.

Last week I had  my first hair cut since last April. I was so excited about this haircut and when I left the chair, the cut looked great. The next day the cut looked okay but by the third day I absolutely hated it. I specifically said I disliked  layers, I despised  anything that looks remotely like a "shag" cut and I absolutely hated a cut that looked unkempt.

Oh joy. I got all three. So, I've called and made another appointment with the same stylist and will see on Wednesday afternoon if this cut can be salvaged. I also don't like very short hair and am going in this time armed with photos of a simple page boy or bob as it's sometimes called. We've lived in this area for more than ten years and I've yet to find a stylist who can cut, and then continue to cut, a simple page boy/bob cut. I've had cuts where I looked like Sally Fields in the Flying Nun "hat" (yes, I *am* that old!). Remember those "hat" wings? That's exactly what my hair looked like or, if you're not that old, remember Farrah Fawcett and her layered wings in Charlie's Angels? Have I mentioned how much I hate layers?! One "salon" (I'd have had better success in a saloon!) gave me a perm where my hair looked like it had been fried after being curled so tightly it looked like soda straws. Another stylist couldn't stop talking (a nice way of saying gossiping) long enough to pay attention and she cut my hair unevenly.

So...Wednesday afternoon will see me in the chair again, hopefully, this time with much better results. My consolation is my hair grows fairly quickly and I'll only look like an idiot for six months or so if this cut doesn't work.

Is anyone else having problems with their blog? I've tried many times to access the comments left on my entries and, every time, am taken to the homestead blog homepage. Anyone have any ideas on how to correct this problem?

Over at Greenberry blog Leslie has a fun question and answer list; she called it "being tagged".

Time for bed and a book; sweet dreams all.
