Anybody out there (particularly Nancy from the Front Porch): My daughter, 10, is begging me for a blog. I am a bit confused, as most places require you to be 18 to have a blog. Would I be allowed to set one up for her on Homestead, and control who actually views it (limit it to friends, perhaps?)? Are there any blog spaces specifically for kids (and I don't mean MySpace)? Any input would be appreciated.... Thanks!

I just keyed in blogs for kids on my serch web bar. and several christian catagories came up. You might do that and check into a couple of them. I hope this helps.

We have a few other kid bloggers here and kids are welcome as long as you are supervising their content and make sure that they know how to blog safely. That's our number 1 concern. :o)
If I was you, I'd set it up so that only registered users can see the blog and comment, and don't allow trackbacks. You can do it so that only friends can see the blog, but that is somewhat limiting as far as making new friends. If you homeschool, then I would definitely recommend HomeschoolBlogger. That is where my 2 oldest boys blog (just because there are more kids there). Otherwise I'd set her up here so that you can keep a good eye on things.
Hope that helps. Just PM me if you have any other questions. I'd hate to miss a question because I didn't catch a particular entry! :O)
Blessings,
~Nancy

I'm glad you posted that question (and got some answers). We don't have anything to do with the other site you mentioned. But my Princess Bee is thinking of taking up housekeeping here. We will see.
You always know just what to do. Thank you.
Sincerely, Brenda

Hi Chris ~ good to hear from you!
I highly recommend buying your honey locally. While I have not been able to confirm it with documentation, I have read and been told that commerical honey (especially imported from China) is blended with corn syrup - so we may not really be getting pure honey despite the labeling. I don't have a local honey producer that is geographically close or convenient; but when we do pass one while traveling or out and about, we stop and buy. However, inbetween those stops one still needs honey and I can only wonder when I buy at Super Wal-mart - am I really getting pure honey?
I believe like everything else, you don't know what you're buying unless you obtain it directly from the source or grow it/produce it yourself.
Welcome! Here I sometimes post my thoughts, and news from the homefront. I'm glad you visited, please leave me a quick note if you enjoy something you read.
