A Christian Woman Thinks (And It's Dangerous)

In a Whirl

Doesn't the laundromat have its own allure? C'mon, now, I know no one wants to be IN the laundromat, but once there it has its pleasures. The smells. The sounds. The snap of clothes being folded.

The sounds - nothing beats that airplane engine sound while your clothes are spinning at high rpms in the front loading washers.

This particular allure came home to live at my house yesterday. We had a new front-loading washer delivered. It was supposed to be for my laundry room upstairs, but my contractor brother figured I'd enjoy using it NOW in the basement while the upstairs work marches on (plus, he didn't want it in his way up there, I think). So it got hooked up - and we did two loads. And we watched a good portion of the washing. Mesmorizing! I don't know why, but it is.

I wrote a poem in honor of wash day with the new washing machine:

Laundry, laundry, everywhere

And not a decent thing to wear

Except this shirt with its small tear

Guess it beats just going bare

It's in the teens in New England today, and windy - let me rephrase that: it's COLD. Yesterday it was pushing 50 degrees, and tomorrow and Sunday it will warm again. That's the thing about New England, as they say, if you don't like the weather in New England, just wait a minute.

Bought a pair of BearPaw boots last night, the kind with the sheepskin lining. You can wear 'em without socks, if you want - they do keep your feet warm and toasty. BearPaws are like UGGs, if you have never heard of them before. You do all remember how much I like boots, right? I can link you to my infamous cowboy boot post - in case you missed out. Maybe I'll take a pic of the new ones for you? We shall see.

Christmas shopping tonight - just checking in with you all, reading your posts, glad to see Darcy putting posts up again and she tells me she is shopping until she drops today.

Here's a holiday hug for you all- Chris

I want a front-load washer. The darling little poem you wrote speaks volumes of truth. As for the 3 line of the poem - 'the little tear'
Sounds like my whole wardrobe. stains, mismatched buttons. and 'duct tape' for the tear. You have made me laugh. Enjoy your new washer and your new boots. Keep warm. If your in the New England States do you go gather your own maple syrup (sorry if I'm showing my ignorance).
Sincerely, Brenda

I find that I HAVE to watch the clothes in the dryer if I ever go to the laundry mart......lol

I mean the way the clothes dance on their own, and how there is always one piece of clothing, just one, that doesnt belong in there...giggles

that was a good blog friend!

Washer

We have had our front loader washer for a little over 3 years now. When we first got it we sat in front of it and watched, too. It was better than T.V. I`m surprised I didn`t go and make popcorn to go with it!
We had a lot of trouble with it recently, but did get it fixed, now I love it again!

I only use the "mat" when we are at a campground, but I do like how it is a community w/in itself.
I always talk w/ interesting people I might otherwise not have met on my trip.
And the strong scent of fabric softener gives a "cuddley" feeling to the task.

Hi there friend. Congratulations on the new washer. You have succeeded in making my head spin. (Not hard to do these days!) I love your little poem. Got any others?

I did shop until I dropped (literally!) but I still have lots more to do. I didn't get started early like it seems everyone else did. Glad to get back and see a blog from you.

Sending a Christmas hug your way,
Darcy

The poem was great. I hate to go to the LM. Ours are all in not so friendly areas of our town. But I do have to go on occasion, when something breaks are I have to wash something large.
Thanks for adding me to your friends list. Your blog turned out so cute for the holidays.
Kitty
