Soap!

{ 08:14, Sunday, November 19, 2006 } { Posted in Fun Stuff } { 5 comments } { Link }
For fun, a friend & I took a soap-making class (cold process) last night. Tonight I was able to peel my soap out of its mold (an orange juice container) and cut it up to be put aside for the next month or so. Here's a photo, I know it's not very exciting looking. The scent is lavendar spearmint, although I have to say the spearmint right now is very strong. Can't wait to try it out. We purchased some items to make another batch and hope to do so soon- I purchased a floral scented oil to mix with lime, of all things....

Those cute confetti colors are soap trimmings added to the batch for color. We were told you can also use clays and sometimes your oils to make color in your soap. Ours is natural looking.

Now for the fun of finding some of the materials we need.

I tried this once and loved it. I want to learn more soap techniques. Your soap looks wonderful. Thanks for sharing.

So I'm thinking you'd better get going on that soap so you can send it off to ALL of your FRIENDS :)! So where do YOU buy YOUR lye? (I hear finding a source is the hardest part in soap making).

love making soap! I wish I had seen a class before I tried, but it turned out great - my DH won't use anything else anymore, and all my in-laws love it too!

hey, my New England friend, do you know anyone who has a family Maple farm? I want to get some Maple candy for stockings, but I would prefer to buy it from a) someone I know or b) a family business

Can you teach me!

Sounds like fun! Now you can teach us right? I would love to do that someday. It would make great Christmas presents. Very cool looking too! Hope all is well, missed you on Thursday. Connie
