Cowboy Boots

{ 10:00, Tuesday, July 25, 2006 } { Posted in Fun Stuff } { 2 comments } { Link }

I was packing in my bedroom and came across my boots - I now own three pair of cowboy boots, some brown English style boots, some funky black boots, and some space-age looking leather snow boots by Merrell. Oh, yes, I have some work-boot style boots, too - so many boots I had to find a plastic container with a cover to put all the boots in so they wouldn't get squished when we move soon.

I paid good money for some of these boots, others were a gift, and one pair turned out to be a freebie when I discovered a flaw and a gracious eBay seller refunded my cost.

I don't know how this fascination with boots began, but last winter I was scouring eBay for boots and deals. I don't have a country background, or even an affinity for country western music. But I will say my boots are extremely comfortable. I think that's why our President Bush wears them. They are warm in winter - but not too waterproof, so I don't often wear them when it's wet outside.

Want to see some? Humor me if you will.....

Red boots! Not everyone likes red, but I do.... these are actually a kids' boot, boots tend to run big and I was able to find a pair for less in a kids' size. These do get noticed, even when I wear them under jeans and just the toes are sticking out....

These fancy boots were costly - I saved for them, and thought about them for a while. They are comfy and a bit taller... similar to the red ones with the textured toe....

These were used but have lots of life left in them. My mom got them for me on eBay.... Once they were mink oiled they perked up. They have lots of room for extra layers of socks in the winter, and the classic pointy toe look.

Just for fun, here are the space-age winter boots! They are waterproof... and I keep them to wear to work in winter.

What fun to share with y'all! What do you wear on your homesteads? Where else can you share the fun from your closet but with other gals?

I would be misleading you if I told you I wear boots year 'round. Right now in the midst of summer you will find sandals on my feet 99% of the time....

I stopped by to say thanks to you for commenting on my blog. I'm glad I saw your "boots" entry. I didn't know people wore cowboys boots in Connecticut! :) Here in Montana, boots are pretty common. We haven't had horses for several years, but I still have my "roughouts" for riding and some blue and brown lace up boots for more dressy Western occasions. May you be blessed as you enjoy yours.................Denise (prairiemom)

I like the red ones, but the two-tone brown ones are GREAT!

I have the wrong shape of foot for boots unless they are lace-ups like Justin Ropers. :( But I like looking at them anyhow!
