Friday, June 27, 2008 - Farm Princess B-day...

Posted in Kidspeak

Well, Thursday was great!  If you want to have an interesting day, let your 7yo plan your itinerary.

Here's what we did for Miss M's B-day.  1st she opened presents while we were still in our jammies (everything was horses & Fancy Nancy and very popular!!).  The MP3 player was a HUGE hit.  Then (after getting dressed & pet chores of course...) we went to Cracker Barrel for Breakfast where M ordered Fruit Loops of all things.  Then she got to spend some of her b-day cash in the store, and picked out a Webkins cat & a pink cape for her to wear.  Then off to Chattanooga.  1st we went to the Children's Discovery Museum where we staged a coup where she was able to get E wet, then we went to the Cold Stone Creamery for ice cream (M had 1/2 coffee, 1/2 chocolate w/ gummy bears ) then we hit the aquarium for the fast tour (she wanted to see otters, sharks, crocodiles, penguins, and butterflies) then we played in the "creek" in front of the aquarium (M fell in and got soaked, and of course I'd not brought a change of clothes).  Off to Mellow Mushroom for YUMMY pizza, then we went to sit on some of the brick sculptures down town (one a ginormous couch) then we went back & walked up the big stairs in front of the aquarium for a night view of the city (oh, and we met "Sugar" a horse who works in downtown pulling a carriage...) then we headed home (M wearing her angel costume from last year, as it was the only dry clothes I had in the car!  LOL!!!).  -To the rest of her presents that came in the mail while we were gone, and 6 birthday messages from my crazy family for her too.  All in all a GREAT day!!!!

Saturday, January 12, 2008 - Lady Wolf Pack!

Posted in Kidspeak

Miss E had her 2nd b-ball game today, and it was a bunch of fun!  Very close game the whole way, but I'm proud to say, the Lady Wolfpach triumphed again!  AWROOOOOOO!!  42-34!  E also got the blue star today for Best Effort!  This Upward Program is great for Erin and is really helping her feel just like one of the girls, not that kid with Epilepsy.  Praise God for that!  It actually helps that another girl has Diabetes, and often stops to check her sugar, during practice, etc, so E sees she's not the only kid out there with a health problem, and it doesn't have to define who she is.  We tell her that all the time, of course, but it seems to be better w/ her figuring it out for herself.  Whatever works.  We're trying hard to instill an "I have Epilepsy, but it doesn't have me" attitude.  Being friends w/ Courtney and Adam help too.  Everyone's different is a HUGE theme around here.  Now as long as the buzzer doesn't prompt a seizure, we'll be all set!!

Anyway!  We're proud of her, and had a bunch of fun at the game!

Peace~ Shari

Today E wote the cutest journal entry about our camping trip...

"I went camping on the 3rd tuesday in September.  It was fun.  Becuase I learned what chiggers are.  And I learned survival tricks with jiffy pop.  And that my family and I own a part of nature.  We went hiking.  We went to the nature center.  I saw a wood chuck.  And a mama deer and her two babies.  And a couple of squirrels too.  It was fun."

Kids are great, aren't they???

Don't kids say & do the greatest things?  I decided to create a category for these on my blog so I can share some.

Meg: on the communion wine this morning, "They musta put too much blood in there this morning, mama, it's extra spicy!"
