A Day in My Life...

Happy Wednesday!  It's been another crazy busy day here.  I've seen several posts lately that are a day in the life kinda thing and I liked seeing what others do, so here's mine.  Up early to go walk, then work out at home for an hour, then I made donut muffins, and took a quick shower.  After breakfast with coffee mmmmmm... and homemade creamer, I hung out the girl's sheets, re-started the washer, then time for schoolwork.

We did bible memory verses, read Proverbs 22, and talked about what it meant, then took turns reciting the Lord's prayer, which E & M are memorizing and almost have it.  Then we read the next story in our Golden's Children's Bible about Abram and Lot, and looked on our world map and globe to find Jordan, and Israel, then talked about how people are still fighting over that land today.  We found Iraq, then Korea (where's Mr. Chad?) Then reviewed our continent, country, state, county, town, and found them on the map.  On to math, for E & M, and J did her letter puzzle while I sat and worked on my weekly HS Planner.  Then we reviewed Spelling Power, and got ready to go to the library.

Wednesday is storytime, and today we got to say fun words like Skallywag! with Ms. Bobby, as it was pirate day.  I got more books on Egypt while this was going on, then we loaded up to go to Kroger.  After grocery shopping and visiting with our neighbors we ran into, we headed home. (note: we got more reusable Kroger bags today, and the only disposable bag we had was the one they put on our chicken.  WOOHOO!)

Once home we put away groceries and books, and had lunch.  Today's menu was : Natural PB, homemade Strawberry Jam, on homemade white bread, YUM! with fresh nectarines on the side.  Then it was naptime for Jo-Jo and back to the books for everyone else.  E did the next section on her Grammar, and her writing, and M did First Language Lessons, then read some Mother Goose to Dad while I swapped out laundry.  Then E started working on her entry for the Expressions of Courage art contest for people with Epilepsy.  She wanted to do a crayon-resist watercolor picture which seemed so cool that M and J, who had woken up, joined in.  Too bad we were out of watercolors.  We had planned another trip out to finish our errands after lunch, so we added watercolors to the list and headed out.

We have challenged the girls to read as many books as possible, with a surprise for every 10.  Erin got a dollar at the dollar store for the first one, and then today everyone got to pick out a new fish for our fishtank.  We still owe Meg a trip to the dollar store too, as she's read 27 books so far.  E & M got goldfish.  Jo-Jo got a peacock eel.  (ew!! COOL!! EW!!!) We also got stuff to make a model of the Nile river as suggested in The Story of the World VOL 1 Activity book.  So home again with our now LEaKING bag of fish (one bag leaked in the store, we double bagged, the it leaked again) to CLEAN the fishtank, and move it to the living room, where we'll enjoy it more.  Meanwhile, I started red beans and rice for dinner, and brought in the sheets, and hung out Al's work clothes. M read to J and E read 60 (yes, 60) pages in Charlotte's Web.  Then the ladies went out to swing until dinner.

When we released the fish into the tank, we only had a minute to watch the eel before it buried itsself in the rocks (nose only poking out)  Everyone is well so far.  Then we picked up, organized our library books from both libraries, and read Tikki Tikki Tembo while cornbread was baking and Dad was doing the dishes.  After a late dinner, I put the girls to bed while Al cleaned up the kitchen, and then into jammies for some relaxing time on my computer.  (Al is watching a man movie from the Library.)

So, there you have it.  Somewhere in there I cleaned a bathroom, broke up several skirmishes, made beds, took the dog out 100 or so times, played with the cats, read some online, and worked on my Home Management Binder (aka revamped control journal).  Now I must go to sleep, so I can do it all again.  After all, tomorrow I must help build and flood the Nile, and help make the crook and crowns of the kings of Egypt tomorrow.  I can see now why God rested on the seventh day... he must have been homeschooling.

Peace- Shari
