The Hopeful Homestead

My week at a glance...

Do you ever have those weeks where you wonder who put your head in the blender?  This has been one of those.  We've spent FAR too much time figuring out where and how we're putting the rabbits.  Al built a great hutch, with plans to make a 2nd just like it, bit it needs some tweaking for practical use.  I paid bills, and realized just how eye opening our "write down every expense this month" experiment really is.  Ugh.  We obviously need a "homesteading" category in our budget for animal/ garden expenses.  They've become more than "accidentals."  We're working on winterizing things here.  Animals, gardens, wood for the woodstove, fall cleaning, and plans for the waterers once the temps begin to drop.  I'm trying to stay on top of the usual, you know, dishes, schoolwork, and laundry, and hate that my dryer is about to become a necessary evil again.  I'm back in the mood for baking again, with the cooler weather, though, so it all works out I guess.  I declared this week to be Fall Break, as we all were feeling a bit worn out around the edges.  Back to the grind on Monday, though.

Over the weekend, I plan to:

Bake a coffee cake, and some brownies for church Sunday, and maybe some bread.

crochet 2-3 dishcloths, and some more squares for the afghan I'm SLOWLY crocheting.

cut out, and sew the two aprons I've had stashed away forever, and clean out my fabric stash.

Other than that, I'm reading, reading, reading.  Rabbit books, goat books, gardening books, whatever I can get my hands on.

So that's what's up around here, hope I've not bored you to death!

Peace~ Shari

Thank God it is Friday! I loved seeing all the pictures of what you have been up to on your other blog. Your place is so beautiful! I would like to crochet, knit or something...... I did get a sewing machine for my birthday but so far have not even had a minute to thread it. Things should settle down the end of next week though. The busyness has been absolutely fantastic. I am thrilled to have my family around me. I love the greenhouse! And I especially love the chicken's porch. I am trying to get Papa Bear sold on the idea of a chicken tractor. I am investigating our suburban neighborhood covenant to see if that would somehow be a violation wooooooo.... I would not be able to have a rooster unless he was a mute rooster because of the noise. I love to hear roosters crow. Keep up the good life! cheers,Cammy

You have a lot going on, and much of your list looks like mine! What do you do with stuff in your fabric stash to help clean it out? No matter how much sewing I get done, the fabric just seems to multiply. Have a blessed Thanksgiving, and stop by my new blog sometime if you get a chance.
