Tuesday, July 15, 2008 - Blogging Sabbattical...

Posted in My Thoughts

Today's the day I think.  I was considering blogging my way across the country and back.  But I think instead I'll just take a break.  Blogging started as a way for me to maybe keep in touch with out of town family and friends, and to maybe meet a few other women with similar interests along the way.  And it has done that.  It has also done more.  I've hit a few nerves along the way.  Closer to home than I expected, really.

So here's my official blogging disclaimer:  I don't blog for you or about you.  It's a selfish thing for me, really.  And, if one day I post something you don't like, or my views on life aren't yours, then I'm sorry.  Feel free to stop reading.  Did you expect me to be all PC online?  Anyone who's actually met me and has a clue should know better.  I'm not always the nice, quiet SAHM.  Rarely am, as a matter of fact.  But I'm here.  Trying.  Even though it's not always easy.  If something I post bothers you, feel free to post a retaliation.  Right here.  I challenge you to be ballsy with me.  Not on the phone, or in my e-mail where no one else has to know.  Don't tell someone else something I say bothers you, I'll probably still "say" something about it here anyway.  I am who I am.  So sorry if that doesn't always sit well with other people.  Maybe things you say and do don't sit well with me either, but hey, I figure you're entitled to your opinions just like me.  That's what makes life interesting- that we're all different.

I try to cook from scratch (yet we ate at Pizza Hut tonight), I homeschool, shop locally, go to an ANGLICAN church, drink beer, vote libertarian, wear pants, have short hair, drive a truck, cuss too much, and tend to honk at people I don't know on the road if I think their face might be funny when I wave (who was that crazy chick, anyway??).  I never said anyone who reads here has to do everything I do.  It's up to you to do what's right for YOU.  This is just my life I'm sorting through, and trying to love my kids and husband through the whole mess no matter what.  The best I can.  I only hope each person who reads this tries to do their best at whatever it is they do, wherever THEY are at right now.

Maybe you buy takeout, send your kids to public school, drive a hybrid, work at a great job, and have none of the same vices I have.  Heck- maybe you're an EPISCOPALIAN! or maybe even a REPUBLICAN!   Hey.  Good for you.  I hope you're doing it well, the best you can and that it's working for you.

That's the point after all, isn't it?  Life isn't a contest, and I'm certainly not trying to win any awards here.  I'm just being me.  And for the next couple of weeks, I think I'll just go be me in person and skip the internet.  So here you go.  Your get out of jail free card.  If I don't write, you don't have to read it.  Everyone's happy.  I personally am going on vacation.  With my family.  In our SUV.  Somewhere else.  And I plan to have a great time.  Maybe I'll finish reading Thoreau.  And I'll probably drink a beer or two.  You should give it a try.  The beer or Thoreau.  They're both good.  You never know, you might find something you like...

Peace~

Shari

Thanks for the kick in the teeth. Just what I needed this week. I'll refrain from having anymore meaningful conversations with my brother if this what it gets me.

For those of you who don't know RaChelle is my sister in law. RaChelle, sorry if you took this so personally as to see it as a "kick in the teeth" HOWEVER, as I've already said this wasn't about you. Or anyone else in particular for that matter. If you're doing what works for you, good for you. My corner banner was about ME not YOU. I've gotten a lot of crap lately for what I've written, and this is how I feel about it. Sorry if You are having a bad week and decided to take this personally. It would be dumb to hold it against your brother.

Oh Shari, I love your blog. LOL You are always so honest and truthful, and you don't hold back anything either. You shouldn't have to answer to others about what you blog about. As you said, if they do not like it, don't read it. If they are offended because you said something against their views, then don't read it. If you are upset that Shari does/doesn't believe in the Easter Bunny (couldn't think of anything else. LOL), then don't come back (and don't let the blog door hit you on your way out either). LOL

I have been dealing with some stuff lately, afraid to say certain things in my blog because a few people here in town have started reading my blogs and saying that I am "airing my dirty laundry". We who asked them. LOL I am honest in my blog and sometimes, too honest perhaps, but the truth is they have dirty laundry as well I am sure.

By the way, I am REPUBLICAN and proud of it. LMSO Just thought I would say that and tell you I am not offended if you are not. LOL

I have laughed and laughed at your feathered friend stories (stupid rooster. LOL), and have enjoyed your blog very much. Take a rest from blogging, but don't let anyone chase you away ok??? Don't stay away long!

God's Blessings,
Amy Jo

Wednesday, July 16, 2008 - taking it personally

Posted by Sherrie
I love your blog and enjoy reading your side of things. I am glad you do and that you do it for you. It has been helpful and funny and sometimes thought-provoking. As for me, it's refreshing to know someone who is able to tell the world that she is comfortable with herself, her choices and her life. If someone takes your thoughts and beliefs personally then they have their own problems to work out, I think.

There are different types of blogs out there....unfortunately, there are people who can't handle the ones where you express what you think. Yours is that type and it is silly that if one can't handle it without taking it personally, they just don't skip it. This is your space...now if you lashed out on someone elses turf, well that might be a little touchy.

Wednesday, July 16, 2008 - Redundant

Posted by HopefulHeart77
I don't want to be redundant as I have already responded to this post on your other blog. However, I want to tell you that I will very much miss your blogging your way across the country on vacation. I feel as I have missed a great treat and I wish you would reconsider. I understand if you need a break but maybe you could send me email updates. :) I think your blogs are refreshing, exciting, entertaining at times and thought provoking. Thanks for taking the time to blog.
