Great websites to visit

Not to much going here these days. Nothing in the garden and it's too cool for the weeds to grow in the flower beds, so I don't hang around outside too much. I like staying inside where it's nice and warm, which I'm having trouble keeping my house, warm, that is. We live in an old house with no insulation in the walls and all I have in the way of heat is two small wall heaters and my oven and stove top. The kitchen is warm, so I spend many hours in that room. :o)
I will be starting with some Christmas gift baking this week coming, so I have been surfing the net for different ideas. And with doing so, I have come across many of great websites. They are not all food sites, there is a mish mash of different things that I thought were interesting in one way or another. Here is a list of some of them.
Eating Well
Susan Branch
Living On A Dime
The Nourishing Gourmet
Down to Earth
Down to Earth is a new blog that I recently found and have linked on my side bar. She is fabulous. She is living a real homesteady life and shares so much information. Go >> HERE << for about 25 or so natural cleaning recipes for around the home.
Well I hope these sites are useful to someone. I love each of them.
And one more tip for a Frugal Friday. If you have to buy gifts for others, try buying a gift for the entire family instead of individual gifts for everyone. Saves money, and who isn't for that!
A Tip for Making Christmas Lists with Littles
Posted on Friday, December 5, 2008 at 09:58 by Miki - 0 Comments - Post Comment - Link
Do your children make up a Christmas list every year of all their wishes? Mine always have & still do today although they are 15 & 11.
I remember when my 11 yr. old (soon to be 12 in Jan.) was really little, about 3 or 4 & couldn't make a list all by herself b/c she couldn't spell. It was frustrating for her b/c her older sister could write down all sorts of things that she wanted. So I came up with an idea for the youngest one so that she could make a list of her very own. When the sales ads would arrive on Thanksgiving Day they would both sit down to make out their list. My oldest would write all hers down & I would have my youngest cut all the things that she wanted for Christmas out with some scissors & then glue them with a glue stick to a piece of paper. It made her feel "Big" b/c she could make up her own list without anyone's help.
As they grew older they still would do that every now & then.

empty house

Well my house is empty of guests. The first few hours it felt nice to have everything back to normal, but today it is quiet and empty feeling again (funny to say with 14 kids in the house).
Yesterday I had to take Isabel into Fort Worth a doctors appointment. She had to see a Opthamologist to check to see if there has been any damage to her eyes because of the Graves Disease. Praise God there isn't any damage. We were so happy. We shopped a little while in Fort Worth, but I was honestly just too tired after the wonderful week with family in town.
It is cold out here. We have been using the wood burner and the fireplace non stop it has been so cold. The only problem is the heat from these two don't let the heat kick on and warm the bedrooms. This isn't a problem during the day, but at night we can't get the heat to kick on until the fireplaces go out. Maybe this is a great back up plan for when the fireplaces go out. So, as long as someone is taking care of the fire the living spaces are nice and warm.
One of my daughters got invited to a prom back in Las Vegas at a Christian school by a nice Christian young man in April. We will be driving back there in April so she can go. We don't allow dating or time alone with a boy so this will be a totally chaparoned outing. She is excited to be going.
Well, the day is waiting and I have tons to do. Stay warm and make the best of the time you have. Brenda

Trimed up and ready to decide on boarders.

Good morning. Last night I got the laundry folded and the quilt trimed up. So, this morning I have been pinning some tan boarders around some new dark brown curatins for our daughters pink walled bedroom. *smile* They will look really pretty when they are done. I think I will also put some pooh binding at the top for the curtain rod to go through. That will make them look really cute.
So, the quilt that is ready for some borders? Here it is...
Winter blessings to you all. Remember to pray always.-Me-(Mommy of two little blessings)
