Ok with my recipe I use hamburg,onions,carrots,garlic and you can put in what ever seasons you like.
For the my Pie crust
2 cups sifted all purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
2/3 of shortening ( I use crisco)
5-7 tablespoons cold water
Now you will see step by step on how I make my pasties and they are really good.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
hamburg
onion and garlic
carrots
taters
Then you cube or dice it up to your liken
Mix it all together in a bowl
Then set the bowl aside and its time to make crust
Put ingredients for your crust in mixing bowl
Then start mixing your dough up
Dough is finished and on bread board
Find a small plate or bowl about 6" across then set it on the pie crust and cut around it.
Remove pan or plate at this time then I roll it just alittle more not much.
At this time it will be ready to put the filling in I use about 3/4 of a cup
Then you turn the crust up and crimp the edge
Then I put an egg wash on this set it on the cookie sheet for 45 minutes @ 400 or until it is golden brown.
Now they are out of the oven and you take off from cookie tray ready to eat.. Sometimes the juice will drip out but thats ok..
Here is one that Ray will eat..
And here is another one cut in half we like some ketchup on it.
Hope you have enjoy this ..
Now alittle history on the pasties I meant to put first..
Pasty (pronounced PAST ee) Recipe
Pasties are meat pies originally made in Cornwall, England. Miners from Cornwall who emigrated to work in the iron ore mines of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan brought the tradition of pasties with them.
From our house to yours..
