Looking for some help or answers to my question. My left ear has been sore feels kind of like an ear infection but I don't beleive it is, cause I've had it about two weeks and I've had the same feeling before.. It also kind of feels like water in the ear with some discomfort last time I had it I had wax build up in the ear drum and they had to scrap it out. Well it doesn't feel all that great to go through..I did call the dr. office today and they can't get me in for awhile so I was wondering anybody got some magic out there..lol.. Thanks..haflinger

believe it or not my husbands mother used to have hmim lay down with the effected ear up twords her and then she put peroxide in his ear and let it work then he would rool over and let it drain and then he used q-tips to clean it. We have taken him in a couple of times and the dr used a waterpick and warm water to clean it out. I have no idea what you could use but I am just telling you what as worked for my husband.

Ugh, that's terrible. I have such a dread of an ear infection because they hurt so bad that I always scoot right on to the doctor's office. Get well!

Uff da, I feel for you. Try letting the warm shower water in your ear as a flush. If you have one of those ketchup bottles or other "squirty" kind, fill with warm water and 1/4 peroxide, gently flush. Otherwise there are some OTC products to remove excess wax. If there is an infection, these won't help - you'll need antibiotics. Sorry.

Earache
Posted by mommaofmany on Monday, January 14, 2008 at 09:38 - Link
I haven't anyone with earache troubles, but my friend swears by this remedy for her kids:
She takes an onion and grates some of it. She then squeezes the juice out of it and uses a dropper to drip it in the affected ear. Let sit a little while, then let drain out, and catch it with a cloth. She (and her daughters) say it takes away the pain very quickly!

Ear Candling
Posted by sarajeen on Monday, January 14, 2008 at 09:38 - Link
Ok, this will sound funny, but it really works. . .my cousin is a certified massage therapist, and one of the treatments she does is called ear candling. You can buy the supplies at some health food/natural health type stores, but I would recommend having a professional do it! You lay on your side, they put this tube just inside your ear (it just looks like a rolled up piece of paper), and light the end of it on fire. There is a plate to catch the bits of ash, so you don't get burnt. I'm not sure how it works, but when she's done, your ear is clean, and the end of the paper tube is full of ear wax! No pain involved, it's actually pretty relaxing. I'd completely recommend checking with your local massage therapists or even beauty salons, as I believe some beauticians also offer the service. Hope you find something that works!

Hope you are better

I am glad that I read the other responses before I posted - all of my tried and true remedies are listed. Debrox worked well for my three year old son. My aunt has had me candle her ears (she gets impacted earwax on a fairly regular basis), and the onion juice (although my FIL says that squeezing a clove of garlic and using that juice in the ear works much better). Good luck and get better sore ears are no fun.

You can use any kind of oil - vegetable oil, baby oil, sweet oil, and add a few drops twice a day. Then get a nasal syringe or ear syringe and spray it out with warm (not hot or cold) water until it feel clear. Follow that with a couple of drops of hydrogen peroxide or alcohol to help dry the ear out if it feels like the water is sticking around.
