day to day

Up date from the farm! chickens went to slaughter house yesterday they were six weeks old. The wgt was between 5 1/2 6 pds I was very happy with that. We ended up with 20 birds started with 25. The turkeys are really growing and looking good. Layers the young one has started to lay we are getting about  1 1/2 dozen a day. The duck and geese are fine.I did some mowing today I hope it will be last one. I made some blueberry muffins and choc chip muffins today. Ray likes blueberry and I like anything choc. I have apple dumplings in the oven now. Then I have to bake a chicken pie. Then head down stairs to do some sewing. I've done laundry today. Didn't get to church we are down to one vehicle after we took the chickens to slaughter the truck starting acting funny with shifting. Then it would only go in second, so we called a friend that works on our vehicles and said bring it over.. So Ray had a terrible time to get there and I followed he could only go in second. Well the transmission is gone. We had lots of repairs to it last year so I think we are going to get something else. It will have to be a 4 wheel drive cause of his long drive to work. Well I have to get sewing.. Thanks for stopping by..haflinger

Isn't it nice to have a freezer full?:) We butcher out own here but every year we put up at least a dozen or more.
Your baking sounds sooooo yummy. I haven't had the health to do any baking or cooking in the last week but my girls are wonderful at it so I'm eating well at least:P I think today, since we were unable to attend fellowship, and I'm feeling better and better each day, we'll do a little treat baking today, thank you for the inspiration:)
I know how it is with the car troubles. We travelled to Washington DC and back to Oregon with out camper last spring (2006). Just a week before we were to leave the 12 passenger van that was to haul that camper went on the fritz. After having it looked over and the price they gave us to fix it, we gave up and went into a nearly new Excursion instead. It did give us a car payment (we haven't had one of those in all our married life!) but it was definitely time. I'm sure you'll find something that will work well, Lord willing:)

Wow that is a great weight on those chickens. Usually our at 8 weeks average about 5.75 pounds.

Thanks for stopping by my blog! To answer you, that is an 11 x 15, which serves all ten of us. Almost all of my recipes are written for my family of ten, so adjust accordingly!

I have a Cream of...recipe a little lower on the blog that I use in this recipe. I made it a link in the ingredient list. I use that recipe 4x over for our meals. For your family you would prepare the cream of just as it is written, 1/2 pound meat, maybe 1/2 pound of noodles, 1/4 bag of frozen corn, and a cup of cheese.

I wrote make with palm oil if you can, because the Cream of recipe can be made with butter or palm oil. Butter is great, and palm oil is even better!

I make lots of my mixes from scratch, so I'll refer to them in the ingredients with a link to the needed recipe.
