I've used this recipe a long time. I found it in my Country Cooking cookbook from Reiman Publications. I don't make it with nuts.
Fudge Brownies From Country Woman
There's no brownie recipe or mix I've ever tried that's better than this! It's so easy besides—you can mix it in one bowl in just a few minutes.
INGREDIENTS :
1-1/3 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups sugar
3/4 cup baking cocoa
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped nuts
2/3 cup vegetable oil
4 eggs, lightly beaten
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup chopped nuts, optional

PREP 15 min.
COOK 25 min.
TOTAL 40 min.
DIRECTIONS
In a mixing bowl combine first six ingredients. In another bowl combine oil, eggs and vanilla; add to dry ingredients. Do not overmix. Spread in a 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking pan. Sprinkle with nuts if desired. Bake at 350° for 20-25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Yield: about 24 brownies.

I like the recipe that the other commenter gave you but I would like to add as a helpful hint that when you bake the brownies, bake them on a lower heat. It takes longer but they come out chewy and not hard around the edges.
Kitty
Linda,
These are the BEST brownie recipe I have ever made!! Fantastic! Need not look no more ~
Double Chocolate brownies
Melt 1 cup butter in a large bowl
add 2 cups sugar, 1/2 cup cocoa, 1 1/3 cup flour.
Add 4 eggs, one at a time and blend well after each egg is added. Add 2 TBS vanilla and fold in 1 cup choc. chips and 1 cup nuts.
Bake at 350 for 30 min. Do not overbake!
For choc. mint brownies I substitute the vanilla for mint extract. Very yummy!!!
Spread brownies in a 13x9 pan and bake.
Cool and square. Yields about 2 dozen brownies.
