Just wondering how many bloggers out there or your  friends use lard? if so what do u use it for? When I was in PA I bought a large tub of lard now I have to find ways to use it. I don't want to waste anything but it does take room up in the fridge..

Thanks Sister Brenda

I use lard any way that most people use shortening. It gives a flakier crust and really makes nice texture. Technically lard is not good for people but is still better than shortening is for us.

I made brownies and used lard in place of shortening and it came out terrible I thought.. I know it makes a nice pie crust..
Thanks for stopping by

Brenda, just use it in place of butter or shortening (especially shortening) in any recipe. It is great for baking, making pie crusts, frying...it's endless. It's not really moist enough for brownies, though.
Congratulations on losing some weight! As to what to do when you hit that stage where it stops coming off, I don't know. That's usually the point I give up.

Blessings Sister!
We use lard in various things. I use it in place of butter when I'm out of butter. I use it in place of all calls for shortening as shortening is made from soy and we don't use soy for anything. This includes vegetable oil which isn't vegetable oil at all but soy! In that case we use corn oil.
It makes for very tastey and flaky biscuits, pie crusts, and cakes are moist. I use it bit of it for frying eggs if I didn't cook bacon first.
I just store it in the cupboard. I don't refrigerate because it gets hard and I have to have it at room temperature so it's soft enough to use in receipts:)
God be with thee!
