"I happens to even the best of us the police officer," tried to explain in an understanding tone. "Do you realize how fast you were going mamma?" I couldn't believe it. My day was going fairly well and all of the sudden out of the blue I saw the police car setting in the parking lane on the other side of the street. He was just turning on his lights and swinging in behind me. I glanced down at my speedometer. Opps I was going 35. Just as I looked back up I realized I was in a school zone though the lights weren't flashing but his lights were now flashing behind me. As I waited for him to walk up to my car, I was praying that he would only give me a warning. However, I didn't luck out so well. He told me if my record was good that he could maybe bring down the miles for me. And my reply was, "This is my first ever." He was somewhat surprised at that reply, "Well, it happens to even the best of us" but continued on to tell me he would have to write up a ticket because of how many miles over I was going that he just couldn't give me a warning. Nice guy!! What a way to ruin a beautiful day and it was only 12:30 in the afternoon. I 've had my license since 1982 (25+) years and this was the first time I've been stopped for speeding. One other time I was stopped but only because I didn't have any back tail lights and he gave me a slip to get them fixed, but never in my years of driving have I been stopped for speeding. And this was the one thing that I could always brag about when hubby brought up his good driving record after getting a ticket. ouch!! Now it's been tarnished. Thank you Mr. Policeman. Though he was very nice he did know that he was the first ever to give me a ticket and he'll have that to look back on as he reflects on his day. So hope I made his day for him too. So the taxi service had to come home so she wouldn't spend any more money wildly and foolishly today. But I have to head out for another run in about an hour. Sure will be glad when we get another vehicle. Had I not had to take my hubby to work I would have been home and not tarnished my record today. Now I have two points agianst me today: speeding and spending money wildly and foolishly (giving to the government, as if they don't have enough of my money) I guess it had to happen sooner or later, but I would have much rather it have been later. 25 years is a pretty long time. Wonder how long I could have gone? Guess I pushed my limit.
Wow, I got my first ticket within a month of having my lisence I think. LOL Oh well. Sorry your good name and record is tarnished. LOL It could have been worse. Hubby came home with his second ticket the other day for going 15 miles over the limit. (125 bucks each).
