I've been working on the quilt blocks, just haven't found the time to post them. So here goes the blocks for the last three weeks. :-)

Mary, Mother of Jesus – The block I chose for Mary is called “Star and Cross”. I used white for her innocence and purity, angel fabric for the messenger, and gold for her unquestioning willingness to be the vessel for a gift more valuable than gold.

Anna – Anna was a prophetess, a widow living in the temple and spending all her time fasting and praying. She was of the first to know that Mary was carrying the Savior. The name of this block is “Temple Court”. I chose a soft pink floral to represent her love and devotion to God, and a green for the life she recognized as being the Redeemer

Woman of Samaria – A sinful, adulteress woman, she went to the well when she thought nobody would be there to avoid the ridicule and gossip. But not only was there a man there, he actually approached her! It was Jesus, and he told her all about her life, and offered her “living water”, introducing her to repentance and forgiveness. This block is called “Mineral Wells”. While I was first tempted to include some dark, sinful colors in this block, I decided against it. Her sins were forgiven. Erased. Gone FOREVER. I instead chose blue for the water, the living water that can only be received through Jesus Christ. And the white is for the new person we become when welcoming Jesus into our lives, and our attempt at living a sinless, pure life that would be glorifying to Him.
Ok, now I'm caught up till I load this week's block for the Sinful Woman. :-) |
