Soooo sick

Well sad to say, I have the flu now....thought I could get by without catching it but when I woke up this morning I felt very bad and was running a low grade temp.
Took the kids to church and had a quick lunch...Kentucky Fried Chicken.....kids knew I was really feeling bad since I never buy fast food unless I am way under the weather.
I have been trying to nap on and off now for a few hours, my bones are getting achy and I can tell the temp is rising. I think I will make myself a nice cup of tea.
House is very quiet at the moment as Sundays are usually reading, napping days. I love to listen to the quiet peaceful noises in the house. Today is a good day for quiet.
I did chat with my Mom who happens to live in southern Az, we live in northern Illinois. Family is doing well there only bump on the road is my nephew will be having surgery in his eyes on the 28th of this month, I ask that you would all be so kind to say a prayer for him. he is only 6 and I am sure very scared.
The kettle is whistling so off for some tea now.

My kids are all sick! have been for a week now with a bad case of the flu. I am starting to feel a bit under the weather too so have to be sure to get some extra rest and vitamin c in me.
With the entire household being sick you can imagine how icky the house feels and looks. have to really start my spring cleaning now! Today is a rainy day but a warm one so I plan on opening all the windows and getting some fresh air in the house.
Have to visit the library today so we can get more books, then to shop for some needed items like toothpaste, shampoo and stuff. I also need to get laundry done too! I can hardly wait to hang my clothes out to dry again!!!!! I have to figure out how to hang clothes in the winter....do you all hang clothes inside? have to research this more for the coming winter.
Well time to head out.

Well the temp has dropped in our area, feels more like winter now and it has gotten me into the mood of making soups and bread! Not that my crew wouldn't mind.

They love coming home to a warm house with the scent of hamemade soup. In a few weeks it will be dear hubby's birthday and it is so hard to get the gang together to celebrate. Birthdays are the one time when we do go out to eat, the problem is both boys are working and my daughter has a speech tournament! I think celebrating one day early will be decided on.
Today I will be sewing, finishing a robe for my 2nd ds, I need to do some cleaning too. I work tonight so I am not making a big day out of today.

Well I can't believe how fast time seems to go at times! I have been so into getting my studies done...two more days to go then I can give my family all my attention! I need to get my holiday baking started, my son Patrick and I put the lights up outside today. My daughter decorated the tree and now the house is beginning to look very festive!
I told my husband that when my semester is over I plan on doing alot of sewing, baking and crafting! Well, I guess you add dusting and cleaning too!
My oldest son Daniel was so happy today, he has been working at a local fast foods restaurant and it had cut into his internship time in our church. He is interning with our worship pastor, he loves it alot and is actually the worship leader for our yout group and he plays on Sundays too. He got a new job at a local hospital, as a safety person/ receptionist. This gives him plenty of time to get into the church office and do his school work.
Well, it's time to get my last essay typed up so I better get back to work! Hopefully I can get on a regular schedule as far as updating this site!

Have some pies in the oven now, yes it is early but I have to work on Thursday night so started preparing my meal early this year. I have already made several pumkin pies...family begged to test taste one last night, I caved in and let them enjoy. They all raved about my crust! I love cooking for my family and really enjoy watching them eat and get satisfaction from something I made.
I do hope this thanksgiving dinner will be a great one, we are sharing our meal with my dear hubby's family, they are not saved and that does pose a problem when the family gets together....actually one set of members are not talking to another!

Please pray!
I laid out the pattern to my sons new robe, I am making the family warm fleece robes for those cold winter nights and days! The boys love to lounge in their robes and read the day away during the winter....my daughter just loves to lounge! Hopefully tomorrow I can get some more pies in the oven and cut the pattern while the pies are cooking before I get my rest, I work the next three nights then I am off for two.
Well time to get ready for church, we are having a Thanksgiving service tonight instead of Wed because on Wed we are hosting a homeless shelter for Thanksgiving dinner. One more reason to get my cooking done early this year!

well got thru my evening shift at the hospital, must say I do not like the evening shift, much more prefer the night!

Am I nuts or what!
I actually like the nights since I feel like I have more of my day to do the work I love....make my house a home and bake and cook and sew and all those great things!
Today I need to finish laundry and plan our menu for the week. I am going to try to finish my daughter's skirt too.
I need to sit and plan out the garden for next year as well, living in the suburbs, yard space is not exactly abundant and throw in a couple of active large dogs, well you have limited space for a garden! I am going to do my best to plant as much as I can tho'!
Well time to get back to work!

Well it has been awhile since I last posted and thank you to those that welcomed me!
The weather is changing and I can feel it early in the mornings when I take the dogs out....I love fall, the baking and the colors and smells!
My daughter is back in school, yes, we have always homeschooled our kids but our daughter wanted the experience and challenge of school....so we tried it last year and she did very well. I still keep tabs on her education and am very involved. The boys have opted to stay home. I have three wonderful children....all in high school. The boys love their independence and would not like the schedule of public school so they are still home.
The boys actually start tomorrow!

Well this is it for now, have some baking to do now......peanut butter brownie bars! Yum!!!! I also want to start sewing my daughter's new skirt! I also have some studying to do too....

I am enrolled in our local junior college, I want to earn my nursing degree....it has always been a dream of mine, to be a nurse!

I am new here, hoping to make new friends and to learn more about living life as close to the earth as possible. I do live in the suburbs of Illinois but my heart is in the country! One day we hope to live in the country.....tending the chickens, weeds, and whatever else comes our way. I have three wonderful kids, who are quickly becoming young adults! I also have a wonderful husband whom I adore. We are a Christian family so living a Godly life is important.
