Apron material...what fabric is best???

Hi to all!

I have made MANY things in my sewing room.  BUT I am ashamed to say I do not have an apron in my kitchen AND I have never tried to make myself an apron!  I actually bought some industrial aprons for church and am in the process of embroidering (by machine) on them for our new church kitchen.  I bought them ONLY b/c I just could not figure out what kind of material is best to make one from scratch.

Any suggestions?  What do most folks use for a pretty "handmade" apron?

I have made several aprons for myself to use. I made them of pretty material, not useful material. Oil has soaked through right to my shirt, which is not suppose to happen, lol. So my suggestion is to use a heavy duty cotton or something made for heavy use. And I guess it wont hurt if its pretty too, LOL. Good luck, and show us the finished aprons...........Kitty

One of the favorite aprons I have it made out of jean material and is prettiest up with some beautiful trim and fabric. You can see it in the archives of my page!!
