Costco question.........
Does anyone here shop at costco? If so, can you give me some insight on what type of deals they have? There is one about 30 minutes away from our house. My husband and I are trying to decide if the drive time plus the membership fee worth it. Are their meats good? Do they happen to have organic food? Any infromation you have would be great. We currently shop at Aldis food, County Market and Giant Eagle all within 5-10 miles of us. I am looking for ways to cut our grocery bill and I am wondering if this may be the way.
Have a wonderful day everyone!

We LOVE Costco and shop there at least 3-4 times a month. We have the Executive Membership which gives you 2% back on everything you purchase. We always get enough back every year to cover the membership and have extra.
They do have organic food like milk, sugar, coffee and meat. The best deals are on things like meat, cheese, butter, coffee, bakery items, dog food, appliances, furniture, computers, kitchen items, home decor, books, DVD's, music, and any electronics.
Some of the food is priced more than generic at your local grocery store (because it is name brands), but sometimes the Costco generic (Kirkland) is just as inexpensive. You can go there with a guest pass to check it out before you commit to buying a membership. Here in Northern California they also have the cheapest gas around. Hope this helps!

I forgot to mention they have the BEST return policy of ANY store! You can return ANYTHING even if a year (or 2) has gone by, without a receipt. The only thing they have a restriction on is computers (6 months) because people were taking advantage.

In addition to everything said above:
I love Costco. Ours is an hour away, so we do not use it as much as we used to, but I love it. I love the quality of the stuff - the Kirkland brand especially - for the price. now, sometimes it is cheaper to buy the loss leaders at the local grocery store. but between the quantity (large packages) and the quality, we prefer Costco in general. They also send out coupons every couple months, which usually have things I would buy anyway, so I try to arrange our visits to coincide with coupon week.
On another note - Costco has a great business model. This is a big reason we have never considered Sams or another warehouse club. They pay their employees well - and it shows: Costco has a fairly low employee turnover, they are friendly and helpful and always willing to help you if you need it. Costco has one of the lowest employee-theft rates in the retail business, which helps keep costs low. and, this is a very cool part - if an employee is called up for national guard duty, Costco continues to provide health insurance to the family and other helps, including regular packages to the service member overseas.
