Praying for the best outcome...aka all natural birth........
So the doctor feels that the baby is really big. I am 34 weeks pregnant but the doctor feels that the baby may be as big as 37 weeks. We know we have the dates correct because due to complications I had to have an ultrasound done very early in my pregnancy. They said with an ultrasound done so early that they are almost 99% sure of what week I am on.
So the doctor asked me to come back again next week for an ultrasound so he can have them measure the baby, the fluid and position of the baby. So I asked him what does it mean if he is as big as they think. I asked if they would induce to have him come early. He said that they will not induce any earlier than 38 weeks and if the baby is as big as he thinks then inducing at 38 weeks won't matter. So all I am hearing is he is thinking that they are going to be giving me a c section. Well I DON'T WANT IT!!!!!!!! I want to have my baby all natural. No drugs etc. My husband wants me at the hospital incase something happens.
I want what is best for the baby but I am praying that 1. If he is as big as they think that his lungs will be developed and he will make an early appearance. 2. That he is not as big as they thought and all is well. 3. If he his big and doesn't come early that I will still be able to deliver naturally.
Anyone have any birthing stories they want to share or had any similar issues with "big" babies......

Hmmm, how big is "big", LOL?
My dh was 10 & 1/2 lbs at birth, via natural delivery. My MIL ate lots of ice cream, but her mom (even smaller than she (5'2" - 5' tall?) had big babies, too. :)
My son was 8lbs, 2 oz. Although all my friends were horrified b/c dh was such a big baby, but my midwife said babies tend to match the size of the mom rather than the dad.
I know a family that had all kinds of ultrasounds, they were so sure it was going to be this HUGE baby - because the daddy was a 10lb baby. They were worried sick about inducing, getting that baby outta there! And it was just over 8lbs.
*If* you ever consider a homebirth - or even if you just want to learn more about birth, I LOVED the birthclass my midwife recommended. It was taught by another midwife. :) They dealt with all kinds of concerns that husbands might have. It is suprising what midwives can do - mine can do 99% of what a hospital would do to help a baby breathe if there is difficulty- and I don't think there is a hospital within 50 miles that does the other procedure, anyway!
I hope that you are able to have the birth that you want .....

Well I had a rather large baby. My last one was 11lbs 2.5 oz and I only pushed for 4 minutes. So it can be done my friend lol. My doctor was in shock and still talks about to this day lol. It was the biggest baby she had ever delivered. The only thing she was worried about was the shoulder getting stuck but by that time it's too late. They didn't realize he was that big. So if you have a pretty wide pelvis and such you should be fine. I'd ask your doctor, they should know. I was induced a week early because of the fact that I have large babies so I did get "pit" but without any complications. The only thing about big babies that I didn't like was that sometimes they have low blood sugar and they have to supplement formula for a few days until you milk comes in. But after my milk came in I said that's it, it's all me now lol. I hope all turns out okay. I know you have to be excited and over being pregnant ha ha.
Blessings to you and your family.
