New York Pizza and one of the many reasons I love my hubby.....

My husband loves pizza.  I like it too but not as much as he does.  We were watching a show on discover channel about the worlds best pizza places.  The New York Pizza looked awesome.  Hubby and I agreed so he decided to look into how to make a New York style pizza at home.

He wanted to find out how to make a good New York Pizza at home so we could save money.  But he said he also wanted to make memories with the children. When he was growing up him and his brother would always get excited when  his dad would make French Toast because his dad's french toast was so good.  So he wanted to be able to make something really well that the kids will ask for and have memories of him making when they grew up.  *Sigh*  this is just one of the reasons I love him.  He thinks of things like this.

But anyway.  He has made the pizza  twice since we have had this conversation and it is soooo goood! (The first time was a bust because we didn't get the dough right and he didn't get it stretch out correctly) I love it.  The dough takes 4 days of setting in the frig to get to the point it is ready to make.  The 4 days do make a difference in the flavor of the crust.  Also hubby found a pizza stone on sale for $8.50 and a pizza peel (the wooden paddle to put the pizza onto the stone and take it out) for $15.  We figured it out and making pizza at home and not ordering it just 3 times paid for these items and enough for 6- 15" pizzas with pepperoni, mushrooms and mozerella.

He made up a batch of dough last night so we can have more yummy pizza this weekend. (I never thought I would be craving pizza from a man who has a hard time boiling water LOL) But he is doing an awesome job with making the pizza and I hope he continues to do so.  Another bonus is a night I don't have to cook LOL.  I will try to remember to get some pictures of the yummy pizza before we eat it next time.  We have made homemade pizza before but the pizza stone and recipe makes the best.  We will probably never order out or eat frozen again.  Hubby has us spoiled.

I love New York style pizza. Yours sounds so good. Maybe you could post the dough recipe and how you do the pizza's sometime.

I love pizza, but it has to have a thick crust for me. I love making homemade pizza at home, and I make homemade sauce as well.
