Ramblings of the day...

It is currently 3 degrees out here in Western PA.  Little man and I are indoors with a rip roaring fire going.  Hubby made sure to bring up lots of wood so we could keep the fire going all day since he knew it was going to be a cold one.  I made sure to send him to work with a stomach full of pancakes and hot coffee.  I love it when he has time to eat in the morning and gets a good start to the day.

Little man and I have been playing with all the toys he got from Christmas.  Being the only grandson/great grandchild/nephew on my hubby's side of the family the little man got spoiled this Christmas with toys.   I plan on going through the toys this week and place some of them into storage so I can cycle his toys.   Does anyone else do this?  I don't want him to get bored with everything all at once.  So I will keep a smaller box of toys out and then every month or so cycle some old toys out with some new ones so he doesn't get bored.  Especially since it is the winter months.

I am thankful that 98% of the toys he received were appropriate and educational for his age.  I had to put a couple away until he is older to play with them.  My favorite item he got was his little slide.  he loves it too.  It is small enough to fit into his little corner of the country kitchen so he can play with it indoors.  So besides me chasing him around the first floor like a mad woman he gets exercise going up and down the slide.  Thanks to his Uncle Tony!

Well here are some pics of the fire and little man's play corner.  When you see the corner you can see why I want to get some of the things put away. There is just too much and it is too overwelming for him at present.  Hope everyone stays warm!

In the picture you will see the safety gate up that keeps my little man from getting too close to the fire.

And this is little man's messy little corner:

I think rotating the toys is a great idea. We did the same when our kiddos were little. Have fun playing together!

WOW -- 3 whole degrees....yes, that's cold. My husband told me it was going to be 37 at some point today - I don't recall when. I laughed at him and said you know in NY (where we spent Christmas w/my family), 37 degrees is time to bring out the summer clothes. Even though he was w/us in NY, he did miss our first few days whe the temps were 0-5 degrees. So while I froze in NY and had "instant brain freeze", he was enjoying sunny and unseasonably warm temps in SC. So I can definitely understand how cold you must be and that fire does does delightful. As for the toys, definitely rotate them.
