Weaning Suggestions from breastfeeding...

I am having a tough time weaning my son. I am pregnant with baby number 2 and would like to wean my 13 month old. I have started to try and wean him. I dropped one feeding. It was the one between when he woke up and his first nap. All of a sudden now. He comes over pulls on my shirt and wants to 'snack' all the time. He never did this before. He only started after I dropped his one feeding. I give him milk and a snack to replace the feeding. But no matter what I do and how much he eats he comes over and starts pulling on my shirt.

Any suggestions anyone?

Thanks ahead of time.

are you having a hard time with energy levels? that is why I wean my children while pregnant. I would not if I could handle feeding 3 of us!
none of my kids were ready to wean at 13 months; the only one who did on her own was 22 mo, and the other two I weaned at 18 and 23. So I cannot help with that.
I just re-read the above, and realized it is not much help at all! I am sorry. good luck!

I weaned both my boys when they started dropping feedings on their own, like we'd be around grandparents and they would "forget" often. So I haven't dealt with your problem!

Ds #1 was weaned at 15mo
Ds #2 was weaned at 10.5mo

Ironically, I nursed #2 "farther" into a pregnancy than I did #1, because #2 & #3 are going to be pretty close together. So I actually made it some weeks into the 2nd trimester with him.

With #1 he quit eating during the night, and it was fairly easy to distract him during the day. We never had any kind of scene or tears over weaning. Now I know how blessed that was!!!

I really wanted to make it to a year with both, but #2 is my "all or nothing" baby. His routine was nurse both sides for a few seconds each, then take a sippy cup because I wasn't making anything (it hurt really bad, to be empty and have him nursing). I couldn't even elimnate one side and offer him the sippy cup without him melting down into a screaming fury. So we simply quit cold turkey. After 3 crummy nights of lots of crying and being held by daddy (I just made him mad) he was fine.

I know that probably doesn't help much, I just wanted to let you know that each child is different. And sometimes it's very rough!

I would like to second Ashley's comment about daddy.
when we stopped dd2 about 3 months ago now, she was MAD at me, and so daddy was the one to comfort her. Since he has always been able to comfort her without nursing, this was easier for him than me! LOL!
It also helped that daddy usually had a sippy cup of milk for her when she wanted comforts. that changed to water about a month ago.
