Drumrollllll please......my new mixer (pictures)

On my other homestead forum, I had posted the question what kind of mixer would you recommend. Let me preface by saying that I have made my whole wheat bread in a bread machine on the dough cycle for years. It has really served me well but I could only make a loaf at a time. Well, my bread machine has had it. I have to very carefully put the pan into the machine or the bottom will fall out and all my ingredients with it. So I had been researching bread machines and mixers for literally months. We decided on a mixer because it just would be so much more useful. My oldest daughter is taking a cake decorating class, so it would be very helpful for her. The majority of people recommended a Bosch Universal but I wasn't totally sold and for $350.00+, I wanted to be sold. I have a hard time spending that kind of money, considering how hard DH works for the money. If my wonderful hubby hadn't just insisted I buy one I would probably still be dreaming. I loved the style of the KitchenAid Pro. 600 but it didn't get rave reviews on bread making (my whole purpose). So I kept looking. I finally decided on this one and it came today:

It is a 5 quart Viking Stand Mixer. It has an 800 watt motor. It came with the dough hook, whip beater and a V beater. It's great!!! There are several reasons why I went with this one but one of the main reasons was that they are made right here in Mississippi. I love being able to support the state we love so much. Here are the pics of what we have done so far:
Chocolate Chip Cookie bars

And a loaf of bread that is cooling.
Here it is in its new home:

There are a few negatives; while it is narrow it is very deep. The bowl is very tight in the base. It may loosen with time but overall we are verrrrry happy. My oldest daughter is now making a cake from scratch for her cake decorating class tomorrow.
Blessings,
Trixi

What a beautiful mixer! Don't you love it when they're so new and shiny. Those chocolate chip cookie bars look yummy. Any chance of getting you to post the recipe? I'm always looking out for good recipes I can make for our church morning teas that will go a long way.

I don't think I've ever heard of a Viking mixer. It's great to read the reviews on what you think about it and I'll be looking forward to more reviews as you "put more miles" on it. Keep us posted, would you?
God bless your cooking with your new mixer~ Andrea
Wow, neat...

I've never seen a viking mixer before! Looks nice and sturdy. I have a kitchen aid... just the regular size one that will mix 2 loaves... and I like it... but I don't do bread in it. It is my main mixer... in fact I don't even have a hand mixer... this thing is going on 20+ years and still is running like a charm! Dh likes it so well, he got the fire department talked into getting one as well! LOL
But for bread, I do the breadmachine on the dough cycle if I only need a loaf or two (I have a 2 pound machine). I also have a bosch... dh got it for me last mother's day and it took me 6 months to get used to it but now I love it... I make a 6 loaf batch, 4 loaves of bread and 2 loaves worth of buns... lasts all week... sometimes not, but we like bread around here. I imagine during the summer it will be a twice a week venture as we eat alot of sandwiches then.
Anyways, I enjoyed your post. I think it looks like a great mixer!
Warmly,
Melissa

It is hard sometimes to find families to fellowship with...who all actually like being together! That's sad, isn't it?
And, I completely agree...who determines a full quiver? I believe God is the giver of life...therefore, the blessings He has given us must be what He planned for us.
Enjoy that new mixer!!
Blessings,
Laurie

“I want to know one thing,” said John Wesley, “—the way to heaven: how to land safe on that happy shore. God himself has condescended to teach the way. He hath written it down in a book. O give me that book! At any price, give me the book of God! I have it: here is knowledge enough for me. Let me be a man of one book.”
