How far do you travel to get to town?

Depends on what you mean by 'town' :) 15 minutes to the nearest town with a store and post office. :) An hour and a half to the nearest town with a Costco ;)

I live in a town, right next to the shops. They include a smallish grocery, two clothes shops, take away etc. and banks. To get to the larger chain shops it is a 1 1/2 hour drive. It is 50 minutes or an hour to other towns about the size as this.

5 miles to the nearest city (WalMart and other grocery stores) and about 10 miles to another city with warehouse clubs, Target, WM, the "mall", and various other stores.

17 miles south or 19 miles north to the nearest "small city" that has all of the stores (Target / Sams / Meijer).
The nearest gas station is about 7 miles away.

Our little town is just about 1 mile, and we do have a small post office, library and mini IGA grocery. To get to the closest "real" town with Walmart and fast food is 11 miles. To get to a "real" town with Target and all the other stores is 25 miles :)

Do I get the prize?

For us its 50 miles to the nearest town with a grocery store. For Walmart, Costco and other stores we have to travel for 5 hours and stay over night. The OB Dr and the kids Dr is in the city 5 hours away. We do have some closer mediacal places but they can't do much.

I should say too that it's 15 miles to pavement.

We live in a small "town" (pop. 600) with a small market, bank, one resturant. It's a 20 mile drive to a larger grocery store & one dollar store. It's an hour drive to a big "city" with a Wal-Mart, etc.

If I hurry, 15 minutes to the outskirts of our town...but we always allow 30 minutes when going somewhere. How 'bout you?

Justme that deserves a prize. If I wanted an OB I would have to go for the 1 1/2 hours. It is 4 hours to a real city here and 5 1/2 hours or less to our State city so I know what it means. I think I'll hang out with you, you might give me encouragement. I have only been here 2 years.

I live on a quiet, dead-end street on the edge a "small" town of 9000 (around here that's still considered small). Other than I wish I had acreage, I love it here. My neighbors across the street live on a bank above the river which is the city's border. So I've got a great view beyond them of the valley and farmland below, but I can walk just a few blocks (2 - 4) to the library, park, drugstore, farm co-op, JCPenney's, family doctor, and walking trails. If I ever do get to move out to the country, it will be hard to adjust since I've gotten extremely spoiled living in town. I have to stop myself from complaining when I have to get in the car and drive 1 mile to the other side of town to go to the grocery store (LOL).

“I want to know one thing,” said John Wesley, “—the way to heaven: how to land safe on that happy shore. God himself has condescended to teach the way. He hath written it down in a book. O give me that book! At any price, give me the book of God! I have it: here is knowledge enough for me. Let me be a man of one book.”
