Ambleside online anyone?

I know its February and I should not even be thinking of other curriculums but I am curious if anyone uses amblesideonline.org . We do the normal workbook English, Spelling, Math, Science, History, Handwriting, and Reading. We work through the books every year but I feel like we are missing something. I like the workbooks, as they are a good tool to what we have accomplished but I still feel like we are missing something. My two youngest 13 and 10 are not great writers and I really want to work on that. I have looked at Ambleside many times and almost did it about 4 years ago. It is so intense though and shortly after my oldest DD broke her arm and got the workbooks back out.LOL Anyway, I am not looking at implementing the whole program for each year but more do some of it. For instance, I dont think I would do the Shakespear part but I love the History and Science readings. What do you think? I just feel like we should be doing more. I am also looking at doing an indepth United States Notebook with all three. even my 16 yr. old.
Blessings,
Trixi

We actually used it for a little while before we moved up here. We only did 1/2 a school year. Once we moved here we signed up for the state program and could afford to try some of the more expensive curriculums we'd been wanting. Now we use Sonlight and LOVE it.
But yeah, we did Ambleside and it was great. :)
Still using Ambleside...

Hi Trixi,
Stopping by visiting a few friends and noticed you using Ambleside.
I love it, even more now that we are full time RV'ing. Most of my schoolbooks are now online. :-)
Stop by and say hi sometime. I'm about to start offering my herbal course, and would love to have you join...
Shalom,
Carla Lynne Klimuk

Ambleside Online

Hello Trixi,
I've greatly enjoyed browsing the Ambleside Online website. If you like, you could gradually incorporate different parts of AO into your schooling and if you love it, you could transition over all the way.
I like to use AO to pick and choose from for literature recommendations.
Love,
Beth

Good morning! I'm considering doing something different next year also. We are currently using Learning Language Arts Through Literature (which is a great program), but I'm thinking that next year we'll use more unit studies and actually READ more books. I've looked at ambleside before and am considering it also - but I want to do something that both kids can do at the same time - combining their topics - that might make our day flow better. Anyway, good luck!

You could check on your state's education web site and see what their graduation requirements are.......and use that as a tool?
I called 6 different colleges (from community to prestegious private) and none of them cared about the writing portion on the SAT. One college (private, very expensive) wanted to see a good score on the writing portion of the ACT but that's it.
My kids will take the ACT twice, and the SAT 3 times. Collegeboard.com is a great website to look into.

“I want to know one thing,” said John Wesley, “—the way to heaven: how to land safe on that happy shore. God himself has condescended to teach the way. He hath written it down in a book. O give me that book! At any price, give me the book of God! I have it: here is knowledge enough for me. Let me be a man of one book.”
