So that the Word of God will not be dishonored.....

Before I start this post let me put out my disclaimer.... I know that there are extenuating circumstances that keep people from being able to follow this route. I also want to say that the things that Dh and I now see in God's Word, he has just shown us in the last 10 years. I would also encourage you to be a Berean and check out God's Word for yourself. We must all have our own Faith before God. Romans 14:22-23
Well, today we went home to church and it was just sooo amazing. We enjoyed it so much and it was just what God wanted us to here. They are studying Titus 2:3-5. I think as women we can all use a little refresher here and I surely did! Here is what I got. We are to be discreet, modest, not loud and boisterous, chaste, sensible and pure. Now, here is the bigggyyy, workers at home. This is a tough one in a society of two paycheck households. However, there it is in black and white. Women are to be workers at home. My job is to work at home serving my husband. Here is where the blasphemy part comes in, so that the Word of God will not be dishonored or blasphemed. So this verse says that if I am not following this plan I am dishonoring God. I have read this verse many times and have skimmed over that last sentence. It's not just about all the ways I hurt my household by not being at home but I would actually be dishonoring or blaspheming God's Word. That is powerful. Here is the picture, God is the head of man and man is the head of woman. 1Cor.11:3 If I am a boss of men or if I have a boss then I will have to serve another head. 1 Timothy 6:1 says, that we are to regard our master with all honor. Well, I don't know about you but all of my honor is going to my DH and to God. Some people say that this only pertains to women with small children, well, Psalm 113:9 says, He makes the barren woman abide in the house as a joyful mother of children. Praise the Lord! This verse says to me that all womem are to abide at home as if they had children. This is by no means easy. We do not live in the nicest home. We drive 2 older vehicles. We also live on a strict budget. However, it is worth every sacrifice we make!!
We have not always had this thinking in our house. My DH and I both came from working mom families. However, we are trying our hardest to live according to God's plan and if you read His Word you can not help but to see these verses. It is clear what God calls me to do. The idea of moms working outside the home was spun out of neccessity. During WWII, when all of the men had to go off to war and the moms and sisters had to go to work. When the men got back the women enjoyed this sense of independence. Since then our divorce rate , teenage pregnacies, drug use by teenagers and the suicide rate for children and teens have all sky rocketed. Some progress, Huh!! Anyway, here are my .02.
Blessings,
Trixi
A big thank you

Praise God!! You have NO IDEA how your words ministered to me just now. I am a barren woman. My husband and I have been married for 7 years. Last year I transitioned home to be a homemaker. Everyone around me...including family and strangers have labeled me a freeloader off my own husband because I stay home. Many believe that women can work and get household chores done. My mom has done it for years...however, I was a latchkey kid and felt very alone. Those were times I spent with my granparents who helped to raise me and became almost as if they were my fosterparents. Dad was always stressed and full of anger at home, while even though dinner was on the table, I think having a wife to come home to, certain things done throughout the day, it may have created an atmosphere of comfort.
I think people forget that what I do isn't watching tv all day long, but cooking, cleaning, preparing, nurturing, when my husband is sick, I take care of him, I decorate, do crafts, and when I'm not sick myself from the diabetes and PCOS I deal with on a daily basis, I am trying to focus on my day as a homemaker and wife.
One of the things God also tells us as women to do is to Honor Him in the things we do. And not to be lazy in our day... To use our day wisely with things that glorify Him.
throughout the past several years doug and I have longed for a child. We've always wanted to adopt, yet financially, we aren't able to come up with the money to do so without doing what many often do in taking out second mortgages, high interest loans or advances on high interest credit cards.
Just yesterday I felt almost guilty for being at home while my husband works hard everyday at the hospital. That maybe I could be making more money to help with things better out in the workforce. Doug comforted me and told me this is exactly what is right for us. We have enough to live on and maybe later on, will have to give up some things to continue our simple lifestyle when we add to our family one day, but this is a blessing.
I think that in my own mindset, I have to become proud of who I am to people as I am in my own home, and be able to ignore those who are ignorant pertaining to our faith, our home, and our simple lifestyle.
I don't need to work 80hours a week for someone else and be a slave each day to their will. I can be home 24/7 working for my Lord, my husband and my home.
Thanks again SO much for your post.
Love in Christ,
Rebekah

Thanks for posting that. I read Titus again last night. It's so strange to me how the women who work (the ones that are my friends and family) resent that I stay at home and take care of my family. They have made many (not so nice) comments to us.

I respect you for doing what God is leading you to do concerning not working out of the home. It is awesome that we at home can unleash our God giving talents and are sharping our skills while in the home. So many women work outside the home and aren't even paid near as much as the men. I can't imagine a single parent woman doing what needs to be done for her children. So many ways to go and things to do just to live. Although God knows the heart of all. Getting out of Egypt is so difficult when we are all to many. Married to God we learn the right way. for He is jealous and I know even my Dh's way may not be His. I just have to trust, Rilda *U*

We just found our "places" as they should be in a Christian home a year and a half ago. We struggle, but would never go back. Thanks for reminding us why.

“I want to know one thing,” said John Wesley, “—the way to heaven: how to land safe on that happy shore. God himself has condescended to teach the way. He hath written it down in a book. O give me that book! At any price, give me the book of God! I have it: here is knowledge enough for me. Let me be a man of one book.”
