We got the keys to the new house on Tuesday.  We began cleaning then and it just amazes me the way people live.  I realize that is a horrible thing to say.  However, after scrubbing and cleaning for 2 full days and barely making a dent, I feel a little overwhelmed.  When you look at a place you don't really notice whether or not the cabinets have ever been cleaned out.  After the enormous cleaning task is done, we will then need to start on painting.  We will be going back tomorrow and finish cleaning the kitchen and steam cleaning the carpets. 

One of the major things about the house is roaches.  I found some roaches in the cleaning process.  Dh says he doesn't think they are roaches.  However, I don't much care what they are but they have to be dead before any of my furniture goes in there.  I have bombed it twice now with Bengal insect killing bombs and I put out some boric acid gel.  I bought some boric acid powder to put in any cracks I find.  I hope this will kill everything that moves!!!  I know that these are all chemicals but when weighing chemicals and bugs, I will take the chemicals.  We will not be moving until Aug. 8th.  So hopefully, it will all be aired out!!  If you have any bug remedies please, I would love to here them.!!

Roaches! Yikes! I detest roaches!! Ughh! I do hope you are able to eradicate them asap! I know this must be a ton of work for you to do -- hopefully your family is helping you too?!

Bugs

I really hate bugs. I find that one thing that works well for us, at least for ants (can't really say for the others), but we spray rubbing alcohol along their paths and it wipes out their scent trails. After 2-3 sprays, they leave. As for roaches, a good beating with a fly swatter works - just be prepared to run because they will fly at you!!!

We had a terrible time with roaches when we lived in Florida...
BUT! We found Raid Roach Gel...you put it out in the corners...and it WORKS!!!! Better than a bomb or a little trap. We had to use it faithfully every 3-4 months to keep them away..but it worked!

The move is exciting, but not fun..lol...We bought our first home just 4 years ago. Thinking once the owners moved out, it would be ealy sailing..NOT >>> they left EVERYTHING they did not want in the house. And when we looked at it to buy, you don't see the dirt, filth,etc...yuck..we had to pull carpets out of 4 rooms before we move in from all the dirt and grimm that was hidden under the furniture..I feel for you..Hopefully you do not get too discouraged..There is an end insight somewhere..lol...Debbie

I hate bugs, especially in the house! We had ants and I tried "natural" solutions but nothing worked. I finally had to break down and buy something unnatural. Felt guilty, but not as guilty as I did with ants running all over my kitchen when I was trying to cook dinner!
