Some pictures of the chickens... they grow so quickly....and ofcourse my daily rantings...

This morning we picked a watermelon that was not quite ripe. However, the chickens loved it. Here they are eating half of one. It cracked me up that we put out 2 halves and they all attacked one and then the other.

I still love to just sit and watch the chickens when and if I ever have time. They are so good for relieving the stress of the day.
DH has most of the week off this week and we are cleaning up the outside, weed eating and things of that nature. We had some things around here that needed to be taken to the landfill and DH did that after lunch. We are now taking a break. I hope to start sanding and painting and iron bed we have in a little while.
I also put up another 3 1/2 quarts of pickles this morning. However, my tomatoes are still just not doing so well. I can't exactly put my finger on it, but I just pray we get enough to eat. Last year, I put up a ton of them. I don't know if I will have that to do this year. We will see.
See you later,
Trixi

Our tomatoes are coming in in small groups...not enough to make canning that worthwhile, but being able to put by ::anything::: from these drought-ridden soils is a blessing. I wish it was more, but at least a handful is better than nothing.
I hope you get a good amount!
Deanna
Love the Pics......

I am getting closer to having some chickens myself. I can't wait. I don't know a thing about them, but can't wait.
Have you moved yet? I have lost track since not being around here for a week or so.
Love ya,
Pat

We picked a watermelon too early also. I was telling my Dad and he said that usually the underside that sits on the ground will be yellow and the stem on the watermelon should be dying or turning brown. That's how you can tell when a watermelon is ready. We have about 6 more watermelons, so hopefully one of them will ripen soon!

“I want to know one thing,” said John Wesley, “—the way to heaven: how to land safe on that happy shore. God himself has condescended to teach the way. He hath written it down in a book. O give me that book! At any price, give me the book of God! I have it: here is knowledge enough for me. Let me be a man of one book.”
