Well, first things first, we have decided to move.  I told DH, after looking at the place, that we needed to pray, but ultimately he is our authority and the decision was his.  There was a day that you would have never, in a million years, heard those words uttered out of my lips.  Wow, God is an amazing God.  So, after giving him my 100% backing, he told us on Monday that we were going to be moving.  He took all weekend to pray over it and came to this conclusion.  He said the main thing was not being at home with us every night.  He had been staying at the Armory 2 nights a week to save on gas.  If we come home every Sunday, for church and visiting family, it will be cheaper on us than all of this driving.

He called the woman yesterday to tell her that we would take the house and he went today, to find out all the info. on the Army moving us.  We will either be moving in the middle of July or the first of August.  There are a lot of factors weighing our timeline.  One being, that DH will be out of town the last 2 weeks of July.  I would love to say that I am leaping with joy.  I can't.  My oldest DD's heart is just broken.  She loves it here, and no matter how much convincing, she is just so apprehensive.  I wish I could fix this for her but all I can do is give it to God.  That can be so hard.

As we are embarking on this new journey, we have been contemplating not getting a land line telephone.  The only reason we have one now is for the internet.  We are thinking of getting rid of it and going with Hughes Net for our internet service.  Do any of you have Hughes Net and what do you think?  We are leaning that way in order to have a little faster system than dial up.  Out in the middle of nowhere DSL is not an option.LOL  The hughes net is more expensive but we will be saving by dropping the land line.  We think it will be about a $25.00 a month savings.  Anyway, I would love to hear some feedback.

I picked about 8 squash from the garden in the last 2 days.  We had them for dinner and I had forgotten how good fresh from the garden is.  Oh, they were good.  We had a typical Southern dinner this evening.....Country Style ribs, squash, fried green tomatoes, fried pickles (DH loves them LOL), and blackeyed peas.  Paula Deen would be proud.LOL  It was so good.  You can't eat like this often or your arteries would be clogged for sure.KWIM

We are going to be having a very busy next couple of months.  We will be packing, canning, freezing and everything else that goes along with life.  It will be fun, but I am feeling the pressure already.  I just finished my 16 1/2 pints of red plum jelly and 3 pints of red plum syrup.  They taste as good as they look.

Our chickens are growing by leaps and bounds.  DH is going to try his hand at clipping wings this weekend.  We will see how that goes.  So far, we have one, for sure, rooster.  He is beautiful but DH says he has to go.  I would love to keep him.  Oh, well.

Well, I think that about covers life here on the homestead.  Have a great night.

Blessings,

Trixi

God will bless your good attitude in all of this. Be on the lookout for unexpected blessings! :O)

I have heard good things about Hughes Net. I know people who use them and are happy. Satellite is always more expensive than DSL, but dial up is really difficult especially for bloggers who like pictures. :O)

We use another satellite internet company - Wildblue.net. It has been frustrating at times, but overall we're pleased. Weather affects your ability to connect and if the satellite company is having troubles, then it affects you as well. I was about ready to pull out my hair for a while, but I just couldn't imagine going back to dial up.

If DSL ever comes this way though, we'll drop the satellite connection in a heartbeat!

I've heard good things about Wildblue but never really checked them out. I know Hughes is rather pricey up front, but I think you could save money in the long run over the land line.

Now, back to this moving -- you'll have to let me know if we can help at all. We have the large 15 passenger van and a 20+ foot car hauler with 4 ft sides (or without them if that works better). We'd love to come help if you need it.

I think you'll love the new place once the dust settles. It sounds wonderful, and being able to do a contract sort of thing...that's how we ended up with our place. Honestly, it's all in what you think is worth it. The peace of country living is nice, and I think the horses will adjust nicely after a bit as well. Think of the great 'wilderness' adventure you could have in this :o)

Email me if we can help at all. Honestly, it's not a problem and we'd love to help.

“I want to know one thing,” said John Wesley, “—the way to heaven: how to land safe on that happy shore. God himself has condescended to teach the way. He hath written it down in a book. O give me that book! At any price, give me the book of God! I have it: here is knowledge enough for me. Let me be a man of one book.”
