After months of looking, we have finally......
found a house that is worth looking into. If you have been following our saga of DH's new job, then you know that we have been contemplating a move further South. We have been looking for a new home closer to DH's work and have had quite the time looking. We have been looking for about 5 1/2 months now. It has been a miserable search. We had hoped to find something much cheaper and more for our money. That has been to no evail. However, we looked at a property today that is the best we have seen so far.
See we are moving from a town of about 26,000 people to a town with about 4,000 people. Also, we live in a college town with construction going on at every turn. We are excited about moving to an area where people trully care about their neighbors but the search has been so disheartening. We have been thinking we just mine as well stay where we are. We have great friends, a great church, some true like minded fellowship and we are near family. So we have been thinking, maybe we are supposed to stay here. Well, the 85 mile drive, one way, is beginning to take it's toll on DH.
Thus, leading to the home we looked at today. It is a fairly new double wide on about 5 acres. It has a nice size carport and concrete driveway. The landscaping is very nice and there is a nice sized pool in the backyard. It has a descent front and back porch. The house is about 10 mins. from DH's work. It also backs up to a large dairy farm. The lady has even said that we could rent for a year and then buy. This is appealing to us, as we really did not want to buy in a place we know nothing about. It is also something that we can afford to buy. Which really works well with our no debt philosophy. The drawback is the size of the acreage. We were really hoping for about 10 acres like we have now. At this house, the horses would only have about 2 acres of land. I just keep thinking there are alot of horses who have to live in stalls their whole lives. However, our horses are use to atleast 7 acres all to themselves. When you have lived, where we are now, the land at the house seemed almost claustrophobic. However, like I said it backs up to a huge dairy farm, so it's not like it's in a subdivision. We are just having a hard time adjusting because we have lived in this town almost all of our lives and this is home. However, God has a plan. He is in control. I do know that for my husband's sake it is time and we need to support him. He would drive from now on, if we wanted him to, but that is not the best. I need to be seeking my husband's best and God's best for us. It is so hard sometimes to just be obedient. And we wonder why the kids have such a hard time with it!LOL Well, if you think of us, lift us up to Jesus. My children are having a trully hard time with the whole situation. They are going along with it but I know it breaks their hearts. I am praying for some good likeminded fellowship in this new town.
Blessings,
Trixi

Maybe the dairy farmer has some land he will sell off to you?
It may be worth the ask.

My prayers are with you... we are going through this same thing trying to find a place with enough acreage but that we can still afford. It is very draining.

It sounds like God's plan for you is moving along. Sometimes it's hard to go along with it, but change is often hard - and often creates character (whether we want it or not). Have you considered attending a church service in the new town before you move there? It might help the decision-making a little bit. Getting to know someone else in the town or finding a good church to attend might be a little easier when moving there. I'll keep your family in my prayers. At least your move is 85 miles away (in the same state). Three of the four in my family (that would not necessarily be me) want to move to Alaska - we're in Texas (*sigh*)...so I understand what you're saying about obedience.

“I want to know one thing,” said John Wesley, “—the way to heaven: how to land safe on that happy shore. God himself has condescended to teach the way. He hath written it down in a book. O give me that book! At any price, give me the book of God! I have it: here is knowledge enough for me. Let me be a man of one book.”
