Homestead update and chicken front

The kids and DH are off fishing right now and I am washing all the blankets from camping and blogging, ofcourse.  It's been a busy day.  We are getting the house back in some type of order.LOL

I filled the hummingbird feeder with Sucanat water.  I know that is an expensive thing to do but I wanted to see if they would drink it.  So far there have been no takers.  I don't know that that is a good sign.

I also got my vinegar of the 4 thieves in and am going to mix it up today.  I will be making banana nut and apple nut bread.  Tomorrow, I will be picking up 2 flats of strawberries.  1 flat will be for jam.  I need to get my stuff together for that, as well.

We intend on planting the rest of the peas and some tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers this evening.  The garden is coming along nicely.  It is supposed to rain a little this week.  So it will be good timing, Lord Willing.  I have about 30 tomato plants in total and 7 rows of peas.  We will have 2 rows of squash and Zuchinni and about 6 cucumber plants.  We have 3 rows of Watermelon, Cantaloupe and Honey Dew.  We also have okra and peppers.  I still have my Strawberry plants going but they are not ready to make yet.  I don't know what they are going to do this year.  Next year might be there best year.  We shall see.

As for the chickens, they are just doing great.  We watched them for a while last night and this morning.  They get bigger every day.  We let them out to run about the yard this morning.  It was great fun.  My Dh said we are definitely getting old when chickens are our entertainmen.LOL  Our dogs have adjusted well to them which was my greatest fear.  God just worked all things out as usual.  I don't know why I even worry or doubt that He works all things for my good.

Blessings,

Trixi

“I want to know one thing,” said John Wesley, “—the way to heaven: how to land safe on that happy shore. God himself has condescended to teach the way. He hath written it down in a book. O give me that book! At any price, give me the book of God! I have it: here is knowledge enough for me. Let me be a man of one book.”
