~~Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2~~

We have added to our flock, gardening, and so much more...

Where to begin, where to begin, Well, yesterday afternoon my mom came by to get me before going back to the Feed and Seed where we got the majority of our chicks.  She was getting a couple of mallard ducks to go on her pond.  Well, I had already decided that I need 4 more chicks that will leave me with 12.  I had originally wanted 10 but DH said 12 incase we lose a couple.  Anyway, we came home with 1 Bronze Turkey, 1 Pekin Duck, 2 Rhode Island Red or Red Stars (they have them mixed together), and 2 California Whites.  It's an interesting combination I know.  My DS had to have the turkey and DD had to have the duck.  So here we are.LOL  I put them all in the brooder with the other chicks and the California Whites and 1 Rhode Island Red did fine but I had to take the turkey, duck and the other Red out and put them back in my hall bathroom.  The other/older duck we have just gave the turkey fits.  He was so mean to him.  Anyway, I will wait a week when they have some weight on them and then put them back in.  Who would have ever known that chicks could be so much fun.  After all of our work was done lastnight, DH, I and the kids just sat and watched the chicks.  We definitely have no need for a TV.

On the garden front, we planted our squash, cucumber, and marigold seedlings yesterday afternoon.  We also planted our moon and stars watermelon seeds.  This afternoon, we will probably put out the peas, lima beans, cantaloupe, and honey dew.  Our tomato seedlings still need a week or so of growth before we put them out.  We need to soak our okra overnight tonight in order to set them out tomorrow.  I will also be going to the local CoOp and buying some pepper plants, cucumber, and more tomato plants.  The garden looks great and I can not wait to start the canning.

The neighbor kid down the road came and bushhogged the front pasture and a little side piece for us yesterday.  The weeds had just gotten so tall and it was time to do some clean up.  It looks sooo much better now.  We also got all the grass cut up around the house.  It looks good.  I love fresh cut grass.  It is a labor of love.  However, DS does most of it now.

Tomorrow, we will be going and setting up camp for our church camp out.  We do this 2 a year.  We camp in a pasture about 10 minutes from my house.  So every morning and evening we come home and take care of the animals.  It is so much fun for the kids.  They have built memories at this church camp out that they will have for life.  Then, Lord Willing, we will go family camping near the middle of May.  I like to go before the schools let out.  That way it is not so busy.  I love this time of year.

Blessings,

Trixi

“I want to know one thing,” said John Wesley, “—the way to heaven: how to land safe on that happy shore. God himself has condescended to teach the way. He hath written it down in a book. O give me that book! At any price, give me the book of God! I have it: here is knowledge enough for me. Let me be a man of one book.”
