Pictures of the new chicks and kittens.....

Keeping in mind that my computer is literally a dinosaur, it is quite a task to upload pictures.  It takes quite a while and it's just time I don't have.  So it has taken me a few days to get these uploaded but wahlah here they are.  I wanted to also post a picture of the brooder/small chicken pen my DH made Friday.  I had looked all over the internet and really couldn't find a lot of pictures of brooder's so I wanted to share ours.  The back is a small plywood box for them to stay warm in and the front pen area is a place for them to run around in.  We have two places to clamp the heat lamp on.  One on top so that it is shining in the yard or on the box and one on the box to shine directly into the box.  They don't seem to need the heat directly on them like I had thought.  When we have it right on top of them they start panting and sweating.  Anyway, needless to say they love their new home.

The thing I am most proud of on this project is that it only cost about $20.00.  DH used a ton of scraps we had lying around from other projects.  We had to buy wire,hinges, and staples.  I did buy wood screws but we did not have to use them on this project we still had plenty.  We put the tarp over the back of the box just to make sure they stay nice and dry.  However, we had a storm all day yesterday and it is cold again today.  So I put the chicks back in a box in my hall bathroom.  I just don't want to take a chance on loosing them now.

Ok, I am sure you have noticed a couple of strange colors concerning my chicks.  Well, the duck is orange and two of the chicks are dyed yellow and orange.  They are the original batch that my mom got from a local CoOp for Easter.  They were dyed that color.  So we have no idea what they are.

Here are the new kittens.  We have one grey stripe and two white kittens.

Love the little ducks but I just love ducks, lol. And the kittens are too precious. My cat just had a litter but they are outside so I dont know how many she had yet.

Your brooder is very nice. I really like the little box for them to keep warm... That is really neat thinking. Never seen one like that.

Loved the pictures of the chicks and kittens. They just go together with Spring! Right now I am looking out the window at 3 inches of heavy, wet snow on the ground. There will be no planting for at least two weeks for me. My seedlings remain in the house for now. :-(
