Our children are at war!!!

Let me start by saying that yesterday was potluck for our church.  We met at a couples home and had church from 10:00-12:00 and then ate lunch and fellowshipped all afternoon.

Well, for church one of our elder's talked on this subject and it has weighed heavily on my heart since.  I thought I would share so here goes....

First, Paul gave this warning to the church at Ephesus..

"Therefore be on the alert, remembering that night and day for a period of three years  I did not cease to admonish (warn) each one with tears."       Acts 20:31                                                                                                

The thing that we are at war with is Satan (Lucifer) in this world.             

Be of sober spirit, be on the alert.  Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.  1 Peter 5:8

He is very real.  He was around in Gen. 3:1-4, deceiving Eve, and he is around now 6,000 years later seeking our children.  We are in a conflict.

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.  Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.  For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.  Therefore, take up the full armor of God , so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything to stand firm.  Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preperation of the Gospel of Peace; in addition to all taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.  Ephesians 6:10-16

Our children need the Gospel of Peace in order to fight this predator.

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses.  We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.  2 Corinthians 10:3-5

Satan's goal is to get us and our children to think a thought that is contrary to the Word of God. 

For example, the world says in this day and time a mother has to work, you can't live on one income in this day and time.  Well, that does not line up with the Word of God.  God calls me to be the keeper of my home.  His Word surpasses day and time.

But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ.  2 Corinthians 11:3

Giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light.  For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and tranferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption , the forgiveness of sins.  Colossians 1:12-14

For God, who said, " Light shall shine out of darkness," is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.  2 Cor. 4:6

Do not love the world nor the things in the world.  If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.  1 John 2:15

I have quoted all of this to say that our children are in a conflict daily and as homeschooling/ Christian parents, it is our job to make sure they have the Word of Truth in them to fight the battle.  We would not send soldiers to war without ammunition and armor.  Our children are in a greater, more important battle.  They, too, need to be armed.  Just because they come from a "Good" Christian home is not enough.  This war is very real and it is for their eternity.  I know that I was convicted that instead of making sure that Spelling and Math gets done everyday, I am going to make sure that Bible and memorization of verses gets done everyday.  Everything else will just be icing.

Helmets

We put helmets on our kids when they ride bicycles.
We put helmets on our kids when they ride motorcycles, 4-wheelers, skateboards, roller blades, ice skates, mountain climbing..........
And we send them off into the world "naked". No armor. No Helmet. No Shield. No Belt.......nothing.

This is a wake up call. You are right.....satan does want our children. God commands us to train them up Right.

Your post nailed me right between the eyes! I so needed to hear this today!
We have been stressing about curriculums for next year...not getting enough done for this year etc. Ya know all the stuff that we as homeschooling mothers always stress about. Where is the biblical training? We have been getting so caught up in how many pages and mastering certain concepts that I've really been neglecting the most important subject! Thank you sooo much for the wake up call. I really think the Lord pointed me here today and used you to speak directly to me.

I am fighting this battle myself. I have to really watch myself or I get way too caught up in covering the "academic" part and neglecting the spiritual part in our homeschool. Thanks so much for the reminder.

Amen, trixi! I SOOOOOO agree with you on this one! It is a war out there and if we would never consider fighting in the battle without proper armor and amunition! Satan is attacking the youth and our children need to be prepared for battle! Putting the whole armor of GOD is essential!

This past weekend I talked with a friend who has lost 2 of her children to the modern day plague of pornography.... it is so sad and my heart just aches for my friend! This was a wonderful family - homeschooling and teaching their children........

We must EVER be on guard! Never for one minute think Satan is sleeping - because he doesn't!

I tell my kids ALL the time nothing less than victory in Christ is acceptable!
