Honorable Motherhood.....

I pray that as I write this that I will be clear and God honoring....
Last night, as I took my warm bath before bed, I listened to the tape Honorable Motherhood put out by Gospel Charity Ministries. If you have not been blessed by this ministry, I encourage you to go to there website and check them out. I am convicted about some area of my life every time I listen to a tape. Anyway, I didn't even know that I had been struggling in this area.....However, I don't think I have had, the joy of being a mother, that I should have for a while. I think sometimes we get weary or think we are second rate because of the choices we have made as SAHM. One profound statement on the tape was....The hand that rocks the craddle can change the World. I have not put a lot of thought into this before but that is such an awesome responsibility. If we are raising up children to serve, really serve, Jesus, that in itself can change our world. Something else that was said over and over was that Jesus had a mother, Paul had a mother, John Wesley had a mother, and so did Adolf Hitler. We can win souls for Jesus everday or we can raise another Hitler. That is an enormous priveledge and responsibility that we have been given. Honorable women raising honorable boys and girls. We must be Godly mothers to raise up a Godly generation. I just realized that when I get weary or feel inferior, that I am changing lives and thus the world. Mother in the Hebrew means the begining of a journey. I am the begining of my sweet babies journey. I can cause their journey to be wonderful or a disaster. I pray that I am making it wonderful.
The last thing that I want to share is that we should be longing for this great calling of motherhood. I have never quite looked at it like this. However, it is a great calling and I long to do it. Today, children are sent to the nursery at 6 wks. old without a thought. We are no longer raising our children and this is ok in todays day. I am considered the minority because I stay home and homeschool. We need to make sure that we encourage in our little girls a want and desire to raise their own children, to be home. Also, encourage in our sons to support their families. Encourage them to not ever depend on their wives for financial support. In our home we will not encourage a son to marry until he can support a family. We will not allow our daughters to marry a man who can not support a family. I'm not talking about granduer, but be able to modestly feed, shelter, and cloth a family. I want my girls to never long to be home and not be able to be there. These are all mistakes we made in the begining of our marriage that our children can learn from. I have been given a great opportunity (Motherhood) and I am going to cherish it... I thank God for this great task.
Blessings,
Trixi

Helping our future in-laws

I agree with you! Thanks for the encouragement. Yesterday was a weary day for me. My family was just getting over a 24-hour virus. The kids recovered before me, and the house was a wreck. My perspective wasn't what God wanted, and I was trying hard to change it. However, I did the dishes in tears :( The battle raged the rest of the night. Fortunately, a good bout of sleep really helped! :D
Anyway, living simply is a great thing we can do to help our future son-in-laws and our sons, for that matter. This way, our daughters will not have such high demands/needs for this man in her life to provide, and our sons will take the lead in saying--we can do without this so that you (their wives) can stay home.

Amen!!! The best thing I can do to help my husband is to live a very simple life. I haven't thought about the fact that I need to also be doing this for my daughters. I need to work on sharing with them that we make these sacrifices or choices, in order to live this lifestyle.

I think your comment is heartfelt and wonderful. You hit the nail right on the head. Congratulations for your realization and then acting on it. You are a wonderful, beautiful child of God and he put you in this position. Aren't we blessed?

Thank you for the uplifting testimony of what it means to be a Mother. I agree that in the day to day struggle of homeschooling, baking, cleaning, caring for the children - it's easy to lose the focus of why Moms stay at home - the CHILDREN!! We are in a unique situation and right now I'm working outside the home while hubby builds his real estate business. However, the goal is for me to be at home again. In the meantime, Dad's at home (which is GREAT!!) during the day and no one but us watches our children. We've always felt that they are our responsibility - given to us by God and we are the ones that are to be their caregivers - not others. At any rate, thank you and God's blessings!

“I want to know one thing,” said John Wesley, “—the way to heaven: how to land safe on that happy shore. God himself has condescended to teach the way. He hath written it down in a book. O give me that book! At any price, give me the book of God! I have it: here is knowledge enough for me. Let me be a man of one book.”
