This is the day that the Lord has made.

Wfmwheader_copy3_3

I have found this at BooMama's site but it comes from Rocks in my Dryer.  It's a lot of fun to read everyone's tips for the day.  I had several so I just am going to go for it....

Spending time in the Word of God will be first.  As many of you know we homeschool.  I tell you it is a challenge, a great challenge, but mind you a challenge, nevertheless.  This year we have made it a point that all children are to start their day with Scripture reading and meditating.  Then we take a few minutes for journal writing.  This has made our day soooo much better.  The children's attitudes  have started out sooo much better.  I just hope it continues.

Vidalia Onion Soup

This comes from my all time favorite cook book....Bully's Best Bites

4 to 5 large Vidalia or sweet onions, chopped

3 T. butter

1/4 t. pepper

1 T. all-purpose flour

4 c. beef broth

1 1/2 c. water

1 bay leaf

8 slices French bread toasted

1/2 c. shredded swiss cheese

In Dutch oven or soup kettle saute' onions in butter until lightly browned.  Sprinkle with pepper and flour.  Cook and stir for one minute.  Add broth, water and bay leaf; simmer for 30 to 40 min., stirring occasionally.  Discard bay leaf.  Ladle into oven-proof soup bowls (or one large casserole), top with bread and cheese.  Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes or until cheese is golden brown.  Yields 2 qts. or 8 servings.

Homemade Vanilla IceCream

5 eggs                                               pinch salt

2 1/4 c. sugar                                    whole milk (1/2 to 3/4 gallon)

2 tsp. vanilla                                     2 bags of ice

2 cans evaporated milk

Beat the eggs and sugar together in a bowl.  Then add the vanilla, evaporated milk and salt.  Pour into ice cream freezer cylinder.  Then pour whole milk to the fill line and freeze as directed adding ice and rock salt.

This is a great all purpose ice cream that you can add toppings or fruit to.

Have a great Day!!!

Blessings,

Trixi

“I want to know one thing,” said John Wesley, “—the way to heaven: how to land safe on that happy shore. God himself has condescended to teach the way. He hath written it down in a book. O give me that book! At any price, give me the book of God! I have it: here is knowledge enough for me. Let me be a man of one book.”
