Putting into words what I learned on Sunday.....

This is the day that the Lord has made.

Lessons I learned on Sunday…..

As many know from my writing, we go to a very untraditional church.  We searched high and low for this type of fellowship.  It is by no means perfect because we are in it and we are far from perfect.  However, it does meet a lot of the needs we have.  We really focus on the New Testament way of church.  It is like a home type fellowship.  We do not have a pastor.  We have elders.  All of the men in the church can share and teach what God has laid on their heart.  Anyway, this past Sunday was a different type of service.  At the 11:00 service, the men broke off from the women for a type of meeting.  We had one very special, women of God, teaching us.  She taught on an area that is very dear to my heart.  She taught on being judgmental, basically saying things we shouldn’t, and repeating things.  I struggle with all of these and after this meeting I think a lot of women must also.  The judgmental thing is a big one for me.   The very vague example she gave was if my family can only watch xy and z type movies but Suzy Q’s family can watch ab and c type movies; am I saying oh I can’t believe they are doing that.  This is very vague but I find myself doing this often.  The biggest thing I got out of this was if it is not sin then why should I care.  There is no sin in what type of movie you watch or if you homeshcool or not etc...  These are choices.  I am sinning when I judge someone’s heart. Mathew 7:1.   I have to walk by faith in my house and do what God shows me to do and not care what someone else’s faith is…Romans 1:17.  I would also say that if I would put into practice Prov. 10:12 a lot of these things would not even be an issue.

Here are some other great verses pertaining to this topic.  I am at present really going to study on this matter and memorize a lot of these.

Romans 14:22-23

John 7:24

Proverbs 6:16-19

Proverbs 11:13 I want to be one who conceals a matter.

Proverbs 17:9

Proverbs 10:19-21  This one is so good for us as women who like to get together and talk.

2 Corinthians 10:3-5

2 Corinthians 10:12-13 This is about comparing ourselves.  God has us where He wants us.

Ephesians 4:29

Matthew 12:37

These are just a few on this topic but it really spoke to my heart about some things that I need to work on.  I feel like as women we really struggle in the area of the tongue.  If we would just be kind to one another, Ephesians 4:31-32, we would be so far ahead of lifes game.

Blessings,

Trixi

Thank you for the verses. I am going to study some of these as well. This is an area I think so many of us fall into without even realizing we are doing it.

Hello Trixi! How cool that you and your hubby began walking, too. After some time it gets to the point where you crave it, almost. Like you wnat to walk more and more because of how much better you are feeling.

I like your entry today! It is hard sometimes to express an opinion without perhaps making someone else feel inadequate or like they are in the wrong. I try to let people know that "This is my opinion only".

Have a wonnnnderful Friday. Warmly, Robin

It sounds like a good message on not judging. It is hard sometimes to be righteous without being self righteous. I would have to say that watching some movies would have to be sinning. If it is a sin to fornicate, wouldn\'t it be sin to watch people doing it? If it is a sin to steal, wouldn\'t it be one to be entertained by people in a movie committing theft?

“I want to know one thing,” said John Wesley, “—the way to heaven: how to land safe on that happy shore. God himself has condescended to teach the way. He hath written it down in a book. O give me that book! At any price, give me the book of God! I have it: here is knowledge enough for me. Let me be a man of one book.”
