Another great homesteading book....

This morning I had to take the children to the dentist for their cleaning.  Afterwards, we went next door to the library.  I have found a great book for homesteaders.  It is called Back to Basics and its put out by Readers Digest.  The copyright on the book is 1981.  It is absolutely chocked full of useful information.  It has everything from keeping and butchering animals to soap and candle making.  It is great.  I hope I can find it through Amazon or Ebay.

I hope everyone is having a great summer.  We are harvesting everything now corn, peas, beans, tomatoes, and etc.  Needless to say this is keeping us quite busy.

It's a wonderful book and a must have IMO. We found a wealth of information in it.

Hunt all over...you might try http://www.abebooks.com (I think that is still the correct addy...been a while!) and check there for used. We have bought many books through them and have always been pleased....
as for Back to Basics...sister dear, that is the number 2 bible for homesteading, next to Encyclopedia of Country Living/Carla Emery :o) Yes, it is a MUST for every homestead shelf.
What else?? Countryside Magazine is good....Backwoods Home isn't bad either...and, while not very "homesteady" persay, Home Comforts by Cheryl Mendelson is a good all-purpose reference for homekeeping basics, too.
