Pygmy Goats

We are going to go and look at a couple of what we are hoping are pygmy goats some time this week.  We are interested in this breed because we are more interested in breeding to sell than in having them for milk.  My children just haven't done well with making the transition  to goat's milk  (any suggestions?).  So we would like goats and thought this to be the best option, as they are sort of a novelty.  Does anyone have them and what do you think?

Nigerian Dwarfs?

Hmm...interesting about the kids not liking the milk. Where are you getting it from, and what breed? We had Nubians, known for their rich milk, and often folks couldn't tell the difference from cow's. You have to make sure they aren't eating weird stuff...like wild onions. *lol* And that the milk is properly cared for, or it will taste weird and have hair in it. =-p

Otherwise, maybe consider Nigerians if they are in the area? They are a smaller dairy breed about as big as the pygmies, but give more milk. Pygmies are cute, but I have no idea about the market value they might have. Nigerians would be dual purpose...for pets and/or small dairy needs. I guess it depends on how much you want to invest in stock. =-)
