The country critter caper!

ARGH!  We woke up this morning to find our ducks had been attacked sometime during the nite!  Such is the joys of farming, I suppose.  We did have 6 ducks, 2 Pekinese, 2 mallards, and 2 Indian runners.  Well...we are now down to 1 Pekinese and 1 mallard.  And we aren't sure if the Pekinese will survive or not.  The male mallard was dead, we had to shoot one Pekinese, and 1 Indian runner, and the other Indian runner is totally gone...it must have been the "meal".  The female mallard looks to be unharmed but the 1 pekinese hasbite marks on it's neck and under it's belly.  He is still mobile and seems to be doing okay!    The poor things don't want to go near their pen, and who can blame them.  We have a big dog house fenced in for them at night and then they roam the property and country side during the day.  (We have had our neighbors 1/4 mile down road call and tell us the ducks were down to visit them, and they were on their way home!  LOL)...

SO, today I stayed home from school...one because our 13 yr old was sick yet again today.  Yesterday, our daughter in law stayed with him...he hasn't been able to keep anything down.  WE thought he was better yesterday evening...but about 1 this am, we he tossed it again!   And, I stayed home, because he is very upset about the ducks.  He is our tender hearted child!

Well, he is calling for some food, so that is a good sign!

Blessings,

I am so sorry to hear about your ducks. I know how you feel. Was not that long ago we had some dogs get in on our property they killed one of our rabbits, almost all our ducks expect for two of them, all of my laying hens.. It was BAD.. I just wanted to cry.. And well honestly i did cry.. The sad thing is they just killed the animals and did not eat them.. It was so hard on the children to go out and for us to find them all dead.. I pray that you do not have to get up to that again..
god bless
