Saturday, July 5 - Milk Cans and Coconut Oil
 I have a couple of questions maybe someone could answer.
First-I have two old milk cans and I would like to use them somehow. I know I could paint them and then????? They work good as decor, but is there anything more practical I could do with them?
Second-I only use olive oil and coconut oil when I cook and bake. Well, I usually get my coconut oil from Wal-Mart and the price has jumped from $4.25 to $6. 98. Has this happened all over? Does anyone know of a place where I could order it for less and maybe get my wheat berries and other commodities? We don't have a food buying co-op around here and I'd have to put in a $400 order and go all the way to Duluth for pick up if I used the only one I've found.
Well that's it. I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. We have a nice, hot day with thundershowers promised tonight. We're just wrapping up a rummage sale. It went pretty well. It would have been nice to get rid of everything, but anything at all is better than nothing.

I, too, yesterday was getting some items I needed at Wally World and the coconut oil was raised from $4.36 here in mid-Missouri to $6.98. Argh! I use this grade of cocnut oil to make soap. I had briefly checked another few sources for it, but none were cheaper than what I was paying at WW and of course, shipping charges were already included. WHEW!
I got a few cans yesterday, because I had to have them, but the search is on for a cheaper place to get it. I don't have to have virgin CO for the soap. I'll check out the suggestions others have posted here, but please feel free to share the info if you have it! :-)
For the milk cans, you can use them as a plant stand or to hold yardsticks or umbrellas. ~ Rita :-) |

| Coconut oil I buy from Glorybees www.glorybees.com you can buy virgin coconut oil or regular which is what I use for soap.. I buy it by the gallon... or 5 gallons for soap making.. I havent checked their prices recently but when I bought last time they were much cheaper then buying it by the quart.... I wish they sold wheat berry's they do sell flax seeds... |

| I did a search on the internet last year to see who might be a distributor of Tropical Traditions in my area and I found a couple who run a lodge who buy enough coconut oil for their business that they are qualified to get the discount. I contacted them and he said if I could get an order together of 12 gallons between me and my friends he could get it to me for $30 a gallon. We've placed an order with him 3 times... my friends are all sold on coconut oil. I had to really help them see the benefits, but now they are all sold on it. |

For the coconut oil and etc's, have you checked out Wilderness Family? They are also located in Northern Minnesota, but I have no idea how close they are to you: http://www.wildernessfamilynaturals.com/
Secondly, I used on of those milk containers as a flower pot (I know you said you were hoping for something more then decor, but it just turned out so cute!) Ours had thin rusted areas and I figured it was beyond hope (however, we do have a nice one with a lid that we plan on using someday).
