On Valentine’s Day, my mom, siblings and I were having fun painting ceramics in a little local studio. We were the only patrons in the shop until a middle aged woman walked in, bring a box of unfinished projects with her. The owner of the shop conversed with her as if she came in frequently. We learned her name – Morgan. My mom commented that it was a pretty name, and the lady replied, “Oh yep, I was Morgan before everyone was naming their kids ‘Morgan’! Actually, it’s not my real name. When I was 22 I went up into the mountains, hiking 57 days, communing with nature, and when I came out, I was Morgan. That was forty years ago, and everyone still knows me as Morgan!” I picked up that interesting phrase “communing with nature” and something told me I should probably witness to her. I reaaaally don’t feel like it, I told myself, taking a new interest in painting my project. I’ll just keep painting awhile.
Finally, after silently praying and asking for compassion and obedience, I asked her about her beliefs. When asked what “communing with nature” meant, she smiled broadly and said “This is the way I explain it: praying is talking to God. Meditating is listening to God. I get still and quiet, let everything go, and meditate.” Morgan was obviously quite excited about this. After going thru part of the Law and talking about judgment, my mom and I urged her to repent, and to come to God thru the way He provided. As we talked, it became evident that she was uncomfortable with the exclusiveness of Jesus, and she wanted to pick her OWN path to God. But we told her since God is the King, He gets to decide how we come to Him. She was very quiet. I pray that the Lord will soften her heart, and that she will bow her knee to the King here on this earth…before it’s too late. Leave a Comment { Last Page } { Page 13 of 55 } { Next Page } |
