scarey people
My cousin sent this photo to me. They are our German ancestors. All we know about them is that they are Eldenburghs. We don't know how they are related: Are they uncles, cousins? No idea. She didn't know their names or anything else about them. Simply found their photo among her father's things as she was sorting through stuff.
She calls them 'Scary People' because they look so sterm and forbidding. Frankly, all my Grandpa Eldenburgh's family look like this to me. They look like they haven't a funny bone in all their bodies, from their photos. I've got photos of my ggrandparents in Missouri. I've got photos of their descendents. I've often said they look like models for the old farm couple painting....I call them 'Corn flake couples.' Why? Because when I was a kid, Kellogg's used that Gothic painting to advertise their cereal. When we visited, I found them stern, stiff and lousy cooks. LOL!
The younger generations are less formidable. They laugh and I find we share the same off beat sense of humor. They tell me that is the Eldenburgh humor. Wow! So, the ancestors DID laugh? From their photos, who knew?
