Family field trip

Last week Daddy was on vacation from work. We all had fun with him. Tuesday Daddy wanted to try out a new fishing area. So we all packed up, piled in the van, and went on our way. While Daddy was fishing, Mom took the boys and I on a hike through the woods. We were going to sneak up on Dad through the woods, but he went the other way before we could reach him. So we went farther.
Wednesday we went to a county park with a petting barn, education center, caurosel, nature center, lake, a wildlife habitat, and concessesion stand. We went to the nature center, lake, wildlife habitat, and petting barn.
The petting barn had a pig, a goat, a donkey, and a calf. My favorite animals were the goats and the calf. Although the goat was lying down, it never came to the fence. But we got to pet the calf. I never thought cows could have soft fur.

We also went to the concessesoin stand, but only to get drinks for everyone and get a couple of cups of duck feed. So while Dad and Justin were fishing, Mom, Adam, and I fed the ducks.

As we were leaving the lake we all heard a weird sound. Daddy looked down and there was a duck lying on the shoreline. Daddy picked it up, because he thought it was stuck, but the duck couldn't support it's weight. So Daddy carried it the conssesion stand where the cashier could call a park ranger. We waited until the park ranger came and picked up the duck. The duck is in safe hands now.

Saturday we went to South Carolina to Southern Blessing's house for a little house party.

Wow! A whole week of fun.

Caterpillars

As my dad was walking down the pathway after getting off work, he found a caterpillar. The caterpillar was beautiful. It's bright green with orange and black stripes. My mom researched about the caterpillar. Here's what she found out:

1. The caterpillar will transform into a swallowtail butterfly.
2. They love to eat parsley and fennel. We have both in the herb garden.

While mom was about to cut some more parsley she found another suprise. She found three to six more caterpillars that look just the same. Mom ran inside to get some jars to put the caterpillars in and then snipped some parsley. Justin ran to the nearest tree and plucked off a few big leaves. We put a big leaf in each jar along with some parsley and a caterpillar.

Each caterpillar has a name: Stella, Luna, and Bubba. So far the caterpillars are doing fine, and one has already formed a chrysillis.

Tuesday was Daddy's day off work so he took Justin and I fishing at the nearest pond. Mom stayed home with Adam. We left the house around 6:57 a.m., but we woke up at five in the morning which is kind of early for me. But I'll wake up at any time to go fishing.

Daddy caught two snapping turtles and 2 brim.
I caught 3 brim.

Justin caught 4 brim.

We used worms and grubs from our garden. The grubs kept breaking when we would put them on the hooks. And I had trouble hooking the worms this time, for some reason.

We had a great time fishing.

First day of school

03:07, Tuesday, September 2, 2008 .. Posted in My simple family .. 0 comments .. Link
We started school the first day public school started. I'm in tenth grade, Justin, 13, is in eighth grade, and Adam, 5, is in kindergarten. Every day we start off with the calender which is for Adam. Adam loves using the calender.

In unit study Justin and I are studying The American Revolution. For one of our projects we made a Jamestown replica.
Every Wendsday I have to do crafts with Adam for his school. This year Justin and I have to do more independent work, because my mom has to work with Adam.

For one of my electives I do biographies. I have to read a book about someone. Right now I'm reading about Margaret Thatcher. So I take notes from the books and computer and form a report from my notes I took.

Every Friday our family goes to the library which is where I get some of my books for biographies. For math I do pre-algebra, I did pre-algebra last year in public school but I really didn't get the problems. Ever since we started math at home, I'm finally actually starting to get it.

How was your first day of school?

New Feelin' Feminine Site

04:03, Tuesday, August 26, 2008 .. 0 comments .. Link
Jocelyn from "A Pondering Heart" blog has made a site for Feelin' Feminine. I love this site. I think it's a great way to get the meassage that God wants to give all the girls about dressing modest.

You can also check out the "Simple Women's Daybook", "Saturday Psalm and Praise", "Thankful Thursday", and "Homemaker-In-Training", post comments, and sign the petition. The petition is just saying that you promise to help challenge all girls to dress feminine, showing the true beauty that God has created for us in the first place when He created earth.

Also, jump on over there and you can grab buttons and put them on your blog. They are another great way to get the word out to everyone. I think I might do that also.

Jocelyn has put her heart in this site.

Great job Jocelyn!
